The Trademarks Opposition Board (TMOB) is part of the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) ... The TMOB conducts hearings and renders decisions to enforce and foster compliance with the Trademarks Act, the Trademarks Regulations, the Madrid Protocol and the Nice Agreement, and determines whether a party will obtain or maintain exclusive commercial trademark or geographical indication rights across Canada. This serves to maximize market efficiency by promoting fair competition, informed consumer choice and sound trademark decisions and jurisprudence.
