The cotton whitefly is a highly polyphagous insect, observed today on more than 300 plant species, with a predilection for cotton, beans, sunflower, aubergine, potato, capsicum, tobacco, tomato, citrus and various ornamental plants. It lives on the underside of foliage, feeding on intracellular liquids and causing reddish spots on the upper surface. 1, record 1, English, - cotton%20whitefly

B. tabaci adults are white and about 1 mm long, similar to the glasshouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum). The two species are difficult to distinguish in the field, but differ slightly. 3, record 1, English, - cotton%20whitefly

L'aleurode du tabac est un insecte très polyphage, signalé aujourd'hui sur plus de 300 espèces de plantes, avec une prédilection pour le cotonnier, le haricot, le tournesol, l'aubergine, la pomme de terre, le poivron, le tabac, les agrumes et diverses plantes ornementales. Il vit à la face inférieure des feuilles, ponctionnant les liquides intracellulaires, provoquant des piquetures rougeâtres sur la face supérieure. C'est un ravageur tropical et subtropical. En Angleterre et aux Pays-Bas, il a été introduit récemment et vit dans les serres aux dépens de plantes ornementales et de légumes. Adulte, il se tient à la face inférieure des feuilles, se déplaçant peu, principalement pendant les heures diurnes.
