Des marques doivent être poinçonnées ou matricées de façon lisible sur tous les maillons d'extrémité de la (ou des) chaîne(s) ou sur des maillons rapportés ou encore sur des plaques épaisses en métal. Étiquettes et maillons doivent être attachés de façon permanente aux maillons d'extrémité. Le marquage peut être apposé dans les mêmes intervalles que le marquage de qualité. Le marquage doit inclure le nom du fabricant de la chaîne par une marque de fabrique ou un symbole.
