Le traducteur littéraire a pour mission la traduction des œuvres d'auteurs étrangers dans sa langue natale : romans, nouvelles, pièces de théâtre, essais… Ce n'est pas tant sa compréhension d'une langue étrangère que l'on recherche, même s'il se doit de la maîtriser parfaitement, mais sa capacité à transmettre le texte et ses subtilités en français.
