En anglais, on trouve souvent la graphie umkehr, sans majuscule initiale; cet usage est justifié car le terme umkehr n'est pas un nom propre, c'est un emprunt à l'allemand, langue dans laquelle ce terme signifie inversion. En français, seule la graphie Umkehr, avec la majuscule, est attestée.
