Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has been safely managing radioactive waste from Ontario's nuclear generating stations for over 30 years. At OPG's Western Waste Management Facility (WWMF), waste is received from the stations and is processed and stored. Approximately 140 staff work at the Western Waste Management Facility and they ensure that the public, workers and the environment are protected from the hazards associated with the radioactive wastes that are produced. ... The WWMF manages the low and intermediate level waste from OPG's Pickering and Darlington nuclear stations and the Bruce Power stations.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) a demandé à la Commission canadienne de sûreté nucléaire (CCSN) de l'autoriser à construire et à exploiter trois bâtiments supplémentaires destinés au stockage des déchets radioactifs à faible activité à son installation de gestion des déchets Western située sur le site du complexe nucléaire de Bruce, à Tiverton (Ontario). Le projet a pour objectif de fournir une capacité de stockage supplémentaire des déchets radioactifs à faible activité à l'installation et ne modifie en aucune façon le but principal ni les activités de base de l'installation de gestion des déchets.
