Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
A generic term for a range of materials in the form of a coherent sheet or web - excluding sheets or laps of pulp as commonly understood for papermaking or dissolving purposes and non-woven products - made by deposition, of vegetable, mineral, animal or synthetic fibres, or their mixtures, from a fluid suspension onto a suitable forming device, with or without the addition of other substances. They may be coated, impregnated or otherwise converted, during or after their manufacture, without necessarily losing their identity as paper. In conventional papermaking processes, the fluid medium is water; new developments, however, include the use of air and other fluids. 1, record 1, English, - paper
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
1) In the generic sense the name "paper" may be used to describe both paper and board. 2) For some purposes, materials of grammage less than 225 g/m [square] are considered to be paper, and materials of grammage of 225 g/m [square] or above are considered to be board. However, distinction between paper and board is primarily made on the basis of the characteristics of the material and, in some cases, its use. Many materials of grammage of less than 225 g/m [square] such as certain grades of folding box board and corrugating raw materials are generally referred to as "board" and many materials of grammage greater than 225 g/m [square] such as certain grades of blotting paper, felt and drawing paper, are generally referred to as "paper". 3) "Nonwovens" will form the subject of a separate definition. 1, record 1, English, - paper

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
1, record 1, French, - papier
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
1, record 1, French, - papier

With the recent installation of the current machine in the IMD (Institute of Marine Dynamics) Offshore Engineering Basin and industry’s need to investigate the effects of structure in shallow water waves and current, there is a requirement to develop modeling technique in this area. This project will develop techniques for quantifying and improving shallow water waves and their interaction with current. 2, record 3, English, - offshore%20engineering%20basin
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The Offshore Engineering Basin, illustrated in Figure 1, is a reinforced concrete structure 75 m in length, 32 m wide with a wall height of 4 m. Water levels may be varied up to a depth of 3. 0 m. The entire basin, including the working area surrounding the basin, is serviced by a 5 tonne overhead crane. Waves are generated by means of a segment wave machine, of wet back design, in a fixed "L" configuration. Each segment supports a 2 m high by 0. 5 m wide wave board. These segments are grouped together in sections of four and each section is vertically adjustable to accommodate water depths from 0. 4 m to 3. 0 m. Adjustments are made via electrically powered jacks. Each segment can be operated in five modes of articulation : flapper("20 degrees), piston("400 mm) or three combinations of flapper and piston. These modes optimise segment motion for generating waves in deep, shallow and intermediate water depths, respectively. 3, record 3, English, - offshore%20engineering%20basin

1, record 3, French, - bassin%20d%27essais%20technique%20extrac%C3%B4tier
