DEF

... a medical or biological intervention to the body designed to improve performance, appearance, or capability besides what is necessary to achieve, sustain or restore health.

CONT

Human enhancements have the potential to make it easier and safer for warfighters to do their job. Enhancements have a long history in the military, but recent opposition to their use in realms such as sports and academia, as well as controversy over the off-label or experimental use of certain drugs by the military, are forcing questions about the appropriateness of their use by the military. While military enhancements have largely escaped the scrutiny of the public as well as policymakers, the science and technologies underwriting human enhancements are marching ahead.

CONT

Other possibilities include reducing the effort made to maintain a consistently groomed appearance, using more resistant or indigenous species that require less maintenance and reducing pesticide use. Organizations should implement an integrated pest management plan to achieve a semi-natural balance. This involves introducing complementary species of plants that support ’co-operative survival, or insect or animal species that prey on, or otherwise reduce the effects of, destructive pests.

CONT

Decorative finishes achieve a decorative result or an enhanced aesthetic hand or appearance. A decorative finish may give a fabric its name, such as moiré, plissé or chintz, for example. Some decorative effects are not apparent because they enhance the surface texture of the finish by brightening or dulling it. Some finishes increase the durability of the decorative effect.

There are two types of text-formatting tags in HTML, logical and physical. Logical tags define the meaning or purpose of the affected text. Physical tags control the exact appearance of the text. Whenever possible, using logical tags is recommended. Logical tags let individual browsers determine the best way to achieve the intended result. In most browsers, for example, the <EM>(emphasis) tag and the <I>(italics) tag produce the same result. But a browser that "reads" text out loud to those with sight limitations might interpret <EM> as a slight increase in volume and interpret <I> as a change in intonation or ignore it completely.

CONT

Underground railway systems shall achieve a high degree of importance in the cities, so the architect's role in planning and construction must be considered in a wider context in the future. A high degree of architectural quality in the appearance of an underground railway leads to its general acceptance as a means of transport.... The book... deals with the functional and spatial relation to other public areas which are connected to underground stations. It compares historical and recent examples of the subterranean architecture of metro stations in different countries by examining technical aspects and aspects of space-shaping brought in by the architects and engineers who designed the interior of the stations.

CONT

During the tour you can see how the famous Roman Catacombs, the subterranean burialplaces of the first christians in Rome, have been reproduced in the marlstone of Valkenburg. Besides the innumerable amount of tombs you can also admire the beautiful paintings, sculptures, and the perfect examples of subterranean architecture in the chapels and tombs.

CONT

The metro system was not the only Soviet-era piece of underground architecture in the capital to be affected. A huge underground nuclear bunker for government officials including the president and prime minister was also flooded, according to Czech sources.

CONT
