Public health efforts in social justice and policy change to achieve health equity require multi-level action across health and non-health sectors, including community-based organizations and citizens. A "movement building" approach to intersectoral work for health equity goes beyond being part of coalitions and delivering services or programs to "bridge the gap. "Movement building works towards a systemic solution by harnessing the synergy of meaningful relationships that exist based on common values and leveraging different positional roles, strategies and tactics to influence social and institutional change. 2, record 2, English, - intersectoral%20work

Constant False-alarm Rate(CFAR). A constant false-alarm rate in the presence of variable levels of noise is usually a requirement placed on any modern radar. It is easily achieved in CW radars by use of filter banks. The energy reaching the filter bank is restricted either by automatic gain control or, when feasible, by limiting, and the thresholds in the circuitry following the filter bank are properly set with respect to the level in the total band. In a typical setting technique, random noise is injected into the amplifier that drives the filter bank, and each threshold is set to achieve the desired false-alarm rate. The level of noise is then varied and the threshold rechecked. If the limiting is proper, the false-alarm rate should not change. However, target signals in the absence of noise are unaffected, as they do not change the total energy present in the broad doppler spectrum sufficiently to reach the limiting level. 1, record 3, English, - constant%20false%2Dalarm%20rate

Record number: 13, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Using a device called a Josephson junction, a SQUID can detect a change of energy as much as 100 billion times weaker than the electromagnetic energy that moves a compass needle. A Josephson junction is made up of two superconductors, separated by an insulating layer so thin that electrons can pass through. A SQUID consists of tiny loops of superconductors employing Josephson junctions to achieve superposition : each electron moves simultaneously in both directions. Because the current is moving in two opposite directions, the electrons have the ability to perform as qubits(that theoretically could be used to enable quantum computing). SQUIDs have been used for a variety of testing purposes that demand extreme sensitivity, including engineering, medical, and geological equipment. Because they measure changes in a magnetic field with such sensitivity, they do not have to come in contact with a system that they are testing. 3, record 13, English, - superconducting%20quantum%20interference%20device

4, record 13, French, - dispositif%20supraconducteur%20%C3%A0%20interf%C3%A9rence%20quantique

The ICBL was launched in October 1992 by a group of six non-governmental organizations : Handicap International, Human Rights Watch, Medico International, Mines Advisory Group, Physicians for Human Rights and Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation. These founding organizations witnessed the horrendous effect of mines on the communities they were working with in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America and saw how mines hampered and even prevented their development efforts in these countries. The International Campaign to Ban Landmines(ICBL) is a global network in over 70 countries that works for a world free of antipersonnel landmines and cluster munitions, where landmine and cluster munition survivors can lead fulfilling lives. The Campaign was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of its efforts to bring about the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty. Since then, we have been advocating for the words of the treaty to become a reality, demonstrating on a daily basis that civil society has the power to change the world. As a member of the Cluster Munition Coalition, the ICBL is engaged in the global effort to ban cluster munitions and to address their humanitarian impact. In December 2006, the ICBL decided to engage extensively in the global effort to prohibit cluster munitions. This marked the first time that the ICBL had become significantly engaged on an issue other than antipersonnel mines. The main reasons for the ICBL' s decision were that cluster munitions inevitably end up leaving behind large numbers of unexploded ’duds’ which behave essentially like antipersonnel mines; that many ICBL members had been already working extensively on cluster munitions; and that international efforts to achieve a global ban on cluster munitions were at a crucial point, a point where the ICBL could have a meaningful impact. 1, record 15, English, - International%20Campaign%20to%20Ban%20Landmines

1, record 15, French, - Campagne%20internationale%20pour%20interdire%20les%20mines

As information is stored in one place only and is automatically transferred without manual intervention, it is possible to achieve the target of zero errors. The "scale-less site" has changed the site structure and procedures so that they fit into an efficient design process. 3-D design permits the correct amounts of building materials to be delivered in the exact form to the site or site factory for efficient assembly. One promising theory of effective ways in which to change the self to reach a goal is Gollwitzer's(e. g. 1993, 1999) implementation intentions theory. Gollwitzer conceptualizes the obtainment of goals in terms of action intentions that enable people to cope with obstacles or initiate behaviours. These implementation intentions are separate from goal intentions, which specify the end state the person desires to reach. Implementation intentions instead focus on the means by which people will achieve the goal... 1, record 27, English, - implementation%20intentions%20theory

The doctrine of frustration originated in cases where performance was said to have become "impossible. "That, in itself, is something of a relative term. What is "impossible" depends partly on the current state of technology, and partly on the amount of trouble and expense to which one is prepared to go to achieve it... the current trend in the United States is to abandon the very words "impossible" and "impossibility" and to use instead the terms "impracticable" and "impracticability. Canada's climate change plan calls for a 55 million tonne(Mt) cap on Large Final Emitters and the creation of a carbon offset trading system to achieve these levels. A target price of $15 has been set as the maximum that industry will have to pay to offset one tonne of carbon.... All Canadian companies will have the opportunity to capitalize on reducing carbon emissions starting in 2008, but the credit process and eventual market potential are still unclear. As the system unfolds, it will be important for Large Final Emitters and other companies or individuals to maximize their potential gain.... If companies are able to achieve improve efficiency and share best practices by looking for ways to reduce emissions and trade credits, then the market should expand. There are two types of text-formatting tags in HTML, logical and physical. Logical tags define the meaning or purpose of the affected text. Physical tags control the exact appearance of the text. Whenever possible, using logical tags is recommended. Logical tags let individual browsers determine the best way to achieve the intended result. In most browsers, for example, the <EM>(emphasis) tag and the <I>(italics) tag produce the same result. But a browser that "reads" text out loud to those with sight limitations might interpret <EM> as a slight increase in volume and interpret <I> as a change in intonation or ignore it completely. 2, record 32, English, - logical%20tag

Performance management consists essentially of calculating the optimum parameters for each phase of flight, such as climb, cruise and descent, and for the flight as a whole, taking into account the characteristics of the aircraft, the flight plan, the known meteorological conditions and so on. The pilot can set the system to achieve minimum consumption, lowest cost or best time. Horns were first applied to earmolds in the late 1950s in the "Acoustic Modifier"--a short-canal, wide-bore mold. Enlarging a sound bore will enhance high frequencies passing through it; reducing it will reduce the high frequency components. The key to horn theory involved the change in bore diameter, not its shape. With the extended high frequency range of many of today's hearing aids, a horn of some type should be employed to preserve the performance and achieve a successful fitting. Probably the most popular style is the Libby Horn--a tapered, one-piece sound tube which is replaceable in the dispenser's office. 2, record 40, English, - earmold%20with%20Libby%20horn
