An APAP machine treats sleep apnea, a condition characterized by difficulty breathing during sleep. This machine pushes air into the nose, mouth, or both through a face mask or nasal cannula(a device with tubes that delivers supplemental oxygen or an increase flow of air) to promote consistent breathing. Unlike other types of PAP [positive airway pressure] devices, APAP automatically adjusts the air pressure a person receives during sleep. 3, record 1, English, - automatic%20positive%20airway%20pressure%20machine

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
A medicinal nonventilatory nebulizer(atomizer) is a device that is intended to spray liquid medication in aerosol form into the air that a patient will breathe.... [Nebulizers are] devices designed to provide aerosolized medication and/or humidification to the patient airways.... These devices produce both vapor and finely dispersed water droplets in the liquid phase(aerosol mist) ;they are typically used with a mask or tent or in a breathing circuit. Most nebulizers are either pneumatic(driven by compressed air) or ultrasonic. Most nebulizers include a heating element to provide a warm, humid aerosol. [Nebulizers can be] heated, nonheated or ultrasonic. 5, record 2, English, - nebulizer

A device which regulates the flow of gas from a high pressure source in response to a reduction of pressure at its outlet. In aircraft breathing systems the gas is either oxygen or a mixture of air and oxygen and the flow from the regulator to the face masks is controlled by the pressure fluctuations in the mask produced by breathing. The flow of gas from a demand regulator matches the instantaneous inspiratory flow of the user. 1, record 3, English, - demand%20oxygen%20regulator

1, record 3, French, - r%C3%A9gulateur%20d%27oxyg%C3%A8ne%20%C3%A0%20la%20demande
