AIR BYPASS [10 records]

Record 1 2019-07-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Air Conditioning and Heating
CONT

The mixing damper controls flow from the left inlet branch as a percentage of the mixed-air flow, subject to a preset minimum. The minimum can be scheduled or modulated by a time-switch profile in the damper component dialog. A controller then modulates flow from the left branch vs. bottom branch as a percentage of the outlet flow rate or in an attempt to achieve a target mixed-air temperature. Typical applications include outside air economizers, demand-controlled ventilation, and bypass dampers for heat-recovery, indirect evaporative cooling, heat pipes, coils with high static pressure, or similar components within an air handler.

Subject field(s)
  • Aircraft Propulsion Systems
CONT

Use of this anti-icing liquid/air heat exchanger, in conjunction with the proper air and liquid flow controls, will permit savings of total cooling air(i. e., engine bleed air) flow by negating the need for a hot air bypass to reheat turbine exhaust air.

Key term(s)

CONT

OBS

Subject field(s)
  • Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance
CONT

A further inspection of the aircraft’s fuel system was carried out in the hangar. ... The filter and filter bowl were examined. The filter was clear and the bowl contained almost no sediment. No foreign matter was found which would have restricted the flow of fuel to the engine.

OBS

Air frame fuel filter-security, leakage.... The filter assembly consists of a filter bowl, a replaceable filter element, a drain valve, a bypass valve, an impending bypass switch and a manual test button.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aircraft Propulsion Systems
CONT

Air entering the engine travels through either of two circular ducts. The outer ring of air travels into an annular bypass duct that runs the full length of the engine. The inner core of air travels into the compressor duct, is further compressed, and is then ejected into the combustion section.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Propulsion des aéronefs
CONT

Subject field(s)
  • HVAC Distribution Systems
OBS

Inlet air is proportioned through the heating and bypass channels by V shaped "Air-Flow-Line" dampers, positioned by a damper motor. The patented "Air-Flow-Line" dampers guide a smooth flow of air through the section to reduce air static losses. These dampers maintain a constant pressure drop and, therefore, a constant air volume through the heating coil is maintained regardless of damper position.(from an advertising leaflet of WING who manufactured the IFB [Integral face-and-bypass] heating coil).

Domaine(s)
  • Distribution et évacuation (chauffage et conditionnement d'air)
OBS

OBS

Behind the engine is the ejector system, which performs the reverse function to that of the intake, in accelerating the jet stream emerging from the turbine at M 0. 4 to the cruise speed of around M 3. 0. Below M 1. 3, blow-in and suck-in doors provide a cold tertiary air stream which is augmented by cowl and aft bypass bleed.
