Forward curved blade fans. Forward curved blades... are mounted on what is often referred to as a squirrel cage rotor. Fans with these blades produce a high volume for their size, and are lightweight and economical. Because forward curved blades can collect deposits they are only used for handling clean air. Forward curved blade fans are used extensively in small air handling equipment(less than 610 mm diameter). Their efficiency is lower than that of airfoil fans. The scroll is often similar to other centrifugal fan designs, however, the clearance between the impeller and inlet is not as critical as for airfoil or backward inclined blade impellers. 6, record 43, English, - forward%20curved%20blade%20fan

Air gauges are of two types : the flow or column type which indicates air velocity, and the pressure type which indicates air pressure in the system.... [In the] column type air gauge... the air flows through a transparent tapered tube in which a float is suspended as a result of this air flow.... The air flowing through the gauge exhausts through the passages in the gauging head into the clearance between the head and the workpiece. The rate of flow is proportional to the clearance indicated by the position of the float in the column. The gauge is set to a master and the float is then positioned by means of an adjusting knob. 1, record 62, English, - column%20type%20air%20gauge

The valve is positioned upstream from the venturi, and functions to limit the amount of air discharged overboard. The valve is driven closed when the radio rack fan relay is energized, and is controlled by the same circuits as the fan. The valve is always closed when the airplane is on the ground.(2) The valve is a butterfly-type with clearance between the butterfly and the housing. In the closed position(butterfly positioned 90 degrees to airflow), the valve allows approximately 10 pounds of air per minute to flow through the discharge venturi. In the open position the airflow to the venturi is increased to approximately 20 pounds per minute. The valve actuator is operated by a 115-volt, 400-cycle electric motor. The actuator contains limit switches to stop the valve in the closed position, and to limit the rotation of the butterfly to 30 degrees when in the open position. 1, record 64, English, - radio%20rack%20venturi%20restrictor%20valve

The CF6-80 [engine] also embodies the ’active clearance control' first used by GE on the F101 powerplant for the Rockwell B-1 bomber, and certificated commercially on the CFM56. This system varies the flow of cooling air, and hence the expansion of the blades, to give optimum clearance around the HP turbine. This has the double benefit of economising on fuel-demanding cooling air and of maintaining close tolerances. 1, record 70, English, - active%20clearance%20control

1, record 70, French, - contr%C3%B4le%20actif%20des%20jeux
