Audiometry provides a more precise measurement of hearing. Air conduction is tested by wearing earphones attached to the audiometer. Pure tones of controlled intensity are delivered to one ear at a time. The patient is asked to raise a hand, press a button, or otherwise indicate when he hears a sound. The minimum intensity(volume) required to hear each tone is graphed. An attachment called a bone oscillator is placed against the bone behind each ear(mastoid bone) to test bone conduction. 3, record 3, English, - audiometry

Record number: 5, Textual support number: 2 OBS
3, record 5, French, - conduction

Record number: 6, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Nocturnal evolution of air and soil temperatures are computed for clear-sky situations. The model takes into account the soil heat conduction and the atmospheric radiative transfers... A by-product of the study is to use the model to investigate the sensitivity of the results to CO2 changes. Due to close saturation of the present CO2-H2O bands, the dependence appears very weak... The surface temperature dependence is further smoothed by the fact that soil conduction acts to dissipate the energy excesses reaching the surface. 3, record 6, English, - soil%20conduction

Why Floor Insulation Works. Heat doesn’t rise. The myth that heat rises was used for many years to justify not insulating floors at all. That led to some very cold feet. It's hot air that rises. An air mass that is warmer than the air around it will rise in relation to that cooler air. The process of hot air rising is called convection. It's only one way that heat can escape a building. Two others are conduction and radiation. Floor insulation limits all three modes of heat loss. A warmer floor reduces the temperature difference that drives convection. Floor insulation also directly impedes conduction and radiation to the colder air below the floor. 1, record 7, English, - floor%20insulation
