Originally described in the diaries of the missionary Hans Egede Saabye as a see-saw in temperature between Greenland and Denmark(Saabye, 1942), the NAO was later defined by Sir Gilbert Walker as "the tendency for pressure to be low near Iceland in winter when it is high near the Azores and south-west Europe"(Walker, 1924; Walker and Bliss, 1932). Accounting for more than 1/3 of the total variance of the sea level pressure(SLP) field over the North Atlantic, the NAO is most pronounced during the winter months(December through March) due to an increased sea air temperature contrast(Barnston and Livezey, 1987). 4, record 10, English, - North%20Atlantic%20oscillation

Hurricane spiral bands consist of individual convective cells associated with small-scale cumulus convection. The thunderstorms within the spiral bands are organized into regions of rising and sinking air. In contrast to the motion of the band, which moves considerably slower than the mean wind speed, the individual cells tend to move with the mean wind in the layer in which they are embedded. These convective cells, which have typical lifetimes of 20-40 min, are a result of a general lifting within the band of convectively unstable air. 1, record 13, English, - convectively%20unstable%20air

The highly modified front may, in such cases, appear on the low-level streamline chart as an asymptote of convergence running east to west or northeast to southwest from the neutral point between two middle-latitude anticyclones(high-pressure centers). In most cases, temperature contrast across such fronts is negligible, even though the cloud line may persist for some time after air mass contrasts have disappeared. 2, record 14, English, - streamline%20chart

Sprinklers can perform almost as well as drip methods when they are designed properly. Traditional high-pressure irrigation sprinklers spray water high into the air to cover as large a land area as possible. The problem is that the more time the water spends in the air, the more of it evaporates and blows off course before reaching the plants. In contrast, new low-energy sprinklers deliver water in small doses through nozzles positioned just above the ground. 2, record 15, English, - high%2Dpressure%20spray%20irrigation

The AGI-30 sampler is a high-velocity liquid impinger widely used for air sample collection. [It] operates by drawing aerosols at a flow rate of 12. 3-12. 6 L/min through an inlet tube curved to simulate the nasal passage. In contrast to impaction of bioaerosols onto agar, impingers may give higher bacterial counts in environments where bacteria are carried as aggregates, mainly because bacterial clusters are broken up. 4, record 17, English, - liquid%20impinger
