In thermal conductivity analysers, a Wheatstone Bridge Circuit measures the imbalance caused by passing gas over detector filaments, using half of the cells for the fumigant air mixture and the other half for air as a control. This analyser, in a portable form, is commonly used to check for methyl bromide in ship holds, but it can also be calibrated for other gases.
