The Forward Area Air Defense System(FAADS), designed for total air defense coverage to the division area, integrates weapons, sensors, and command, control and intelligence systems to counter the anticipated forward area air threat into the 21st century. FAADS consists of five major elements-a command, control and intelligence(C2I) component; a line of sight-forward-heavy(LOS-F-H) weapon; a non-line of sight(NLOS) weapon; a line of sight-rear(LOS-R) weapon; and combined arms initiatives.
