Record 3 2011-10-03

English

Subject field(s)
  • Flight Controls (Aeroindustry)
  • Motors (Machinery)
CONT

The LP compressor has six stages. The first two stages comprise the fan section, and have a larger diameter than the remaining four stages. Approximately 47% of the fan stage discharge air goes into the main engine intake, the remaining 53% is discharged into an annular duct.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Commandes de vol (Constructions aéronautiques)
  • Moteurs mécaniques
OBS

Record 6 1988-09-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Heating
CONT

In most warm-air systems, the thermostat controls a fuel burner or central heating coil... The furnace fan is controlled by a different thermostat located in the warm-air discharge duct from the furnace. The fan is turned on automatically when the air temperature in this duct, or bonnet, reaches a certain level, and it continues to operate until the temperature in the bonnet reaches a somewhat lower "off" setting. Ideally, the "cut-in" temperature should be about 43°C and the "cut-out" temperature about 29°C.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aircraft Systems
CONT

Ventilating air for cooling the generator, the oil cooler, and the APU compartment is obtained from the aft accessory compartment and is ducted through a fire isolation valve into the APU enclosure.... The remainder of the ventilating air is ducted into the APU-driven cooling fan which forces the air through the APU oil cooler into the general compartment. Some of the fan air is diverted from the oil cooler into a distribution duct which directs cooling air to the APU enclosure. The compartment is vented through a sound suppressing muffler and thence overboard by an air discharge duct.
