Although there are no scientifically proven minimum safe limits for concentrations of certain toxic and carcinogenic chemicals in food, air and water, such "safe limits" in fact have been set by the appropriate food and drug administrations or their equivalents. DEF

A measure of exposure to a vapor or aerosol.

The concentration in the air and the time of exposure govern the dose received, as dose rate of respiration. It is assumed that, when the product of concentration and time is constant, so is the biological effect over a limited range of concentration and time.... Concentration is expressed as milligram per cubic meter(mg/m3) and time as minutes, so that the concentration time(Ct) is expressed as milligram-minutes per cubic meter(mg-min/m3).

DEF

The concentration of a radioactive pollutant in air that generates a maximum permissible dose to individuals.

CONT

The permissible limit for inhalation of a radionuclide is the appropriate ALI [annual limit of intake]. This is given in units of activity, Bq. Because it is often easier to measure and control the concentration of radioactvity in the air than to measure or control the intake, the ALIs are used to calculate the Derived Air Concentrations (DACs). The Derived Air Concentration, or DAC for any radionuclide, is that concentration in air, expressed in Bq/m³ which, if worked in for a year (50 weeks of 40 hours each for a total of 2000 hours per year), would result in the ALI for inhalation. The normal breathing rate, based on Reference Man, is 2,400 m³ per year at work. The Derived Air Concentration is the ALI divided by the volume breathed in a year at work.

CONT

Club Piscine Super Fitness offers you the liquid pool liner with tropical fish. This technology allows you to reduce energy while keeping the heat in your pool water.

CONT

Heatsavr-liquid pool cover.... Heatsavr is a bio-degradable liquid, which forms a transparent monomolecular layer over the surface of a swimming pool whenever it is calm. This layer significantly reduces evaporation, which not only saves on water heating but with indoor pools can reduce the cost of humidity control and air heating requirements. An automatic dosing system ensures that the correct dose of Heatsavr is added to the pool at the same time each day.

CONT

All liquids in liquid pool blankets basically work the same. 1. They must be lighter than water and float on the surface to be able to prevent heat loss and water evaporation from the water surface. 2. They must be quickly biodegradable, so as to be "pool friendly" and not leave scum lines on the pool walls and not plug the filtration system.

DEF

CONT

The determination of radiation dose is a two-part process. First, a measurement is made, using, for instance, a dosimeter, a urine specimen or an air sample. Second, this measurement is used in a "dosimetric model" to calculate the dose, usually the effective dose or a conservative estimate of this quantity. Dosimetric models may be simple, as in the case of external gamma exposure, where a dosimeter reading is converted to dose by means of a simple conversion factor. For bioassay, however, the conversion of a urine measurement to a dose requires knowledge of the metabolism of the radionuclide, the time and route of intake, and several other factors.

CONT

When desired, the primary infusion is clamped off and the prescribed amount of medication from the secondary bottle is administered. 4. A check-valve performs the following functions : a. Permits the primary infusion to flow after the medication has been administered b. Prevents air from entering the system c. Prevents secondary fluid from "running dry" d. Permits less mixing of primary fluid with secondary solution 5. Higher flow rates can be achieved by elevating either of the receptacles.
