Cascade aerators are commonly used in water treatment. Cascade aerators introduce air into a flowing stream of water, to oxidize iron and reduce dissolved gases. It aids in the removal of dissolved gas, iron, and manganese from groundwater, particularly when these metal concentrations are high. 2, record 1, English, - cascade%20aerator

With cascade aerators, aeration is accomplished by natural draft units that mix cascading water with air that is naturally inducted into the water flow. Cascade water is pumped to the top of the aerator, and cascades over a series of trays. 3, record 1, English, - cascade%20aerator

A solar chimney, or thermal chimney, is a vertical shaft that utilises the radiation of the sun to drive ventilation through a building... During the day, the sun heats the chimney and hence the air inside it. It causes the hot air to rise through the chimney, creating an upward draft. Fresh air is then drawn into the building through lower openings... Thus, ventilating the building. 1, record 2, English, - solar%20chimney

Two methods(atomization and vaporization) are used for the preparation of fuel oil for the combustion process. Air for combustion is supplied by natural or mechanical draft. Ignition is generally accomplished by an electric spark, gas pilot flame, or oil pilot flame. Burners of different types operate with luminous or nonluminous flame. "Drying is a preservation process that prevents the deterioration of perishable crops and allows for handling, transport, and storage of food products for sale outside the community where they are grown. Researchers at Chiang Mai University in northeastern Thailand have adapted drying technologies to help expand the markets for fruits and vegetables. For individual farmers, a cabinet-type tray dryer was designed with a capacity of 100 kg. Warm air is produced by a wood-fired furnace and a natural thermal draft moves the air throughout the unit. 3, record 15, French, - g%C3%A9n%C3%A9rateur%20d%27air%20puls%C3%A9

The evaporating chamber. The third chamber [of the three chamber system], which forms the base of the toilet, is the evaporating surface from where any excess liquids which cannot be absorbed by the compost are evaporated or drained. Liquid is evaporated by drawing air through the intake holes at the base of the toilet, over the evaporating surface, and up the vent stack. On electric models air is drawn in by a fan, while non electric models use natural draft induced by the chimney effect of a 4" vent stack. In both cases a partial vacuum is maintained which ensures that no odors can escape. 1, record 16, English, - evaporating%20chamber

A cooling tower basically consists of an air circuit and a water circuit leading to a heat exchange vessel in which the air and water are brought into contact. By a stack effect, i. e. by natural draft, the cooling tower shell provides air circulation. When, as is the case with the wet cooling towers at EDF thermal and nuclear plants, the air and water are placed in direct contact in the heat exchange vessel, the hot air escaping from the shell is saturated with steam : mixing with the colder outside air produces by steam condensation a plume whose structure is similar to a natural cloud. 1, record 17, English, - wet%20cooling%20tower

Burner Efficiency Tests and Adjustments. For burner adjustment the serviceman measures the draft that provides air for combustion and the smoker or soot content of the exiting flue gases.... Measurements are made through a small hole in the flue pipe within 46 cm of the flue gas exit on the furnace. If the layout of the flue pipe makes this impossible, the serviceman has to make a hole wherever he can.... It should be located between the furnace and the barometric damper but not directly beside the barometric damper. 1, record 24, English, - barometric%20damper

Forced Air Wood Furnaces. Central wood-burning furnaces are controlled by a wall mounted thermostat in the living area. Temperature and fan controls are the same as those found on oil and gas furnaces. Unlike room heaters, which produce a steady heat output by periodic manual adjustments of the draft control, most wood furnaces operate in cycles. A cycle starts with the thermostat sensing that heat is needed in the room where it is located. It signals the furnace control system which opens the combustion air damper and a hot fire develops. When the air inside the furnace's sheet metal casing gets hot, a preset fan control starts the circulating blower and the warm air is moved through the ducts to all areas of the house. 1, record 27, English, - forced%20air%20wood%20furnace

Most modern space heaters are controlled combustion or airtight designed. The flow of air into the combustion chamber is regulated almost exclusively by controls such as screw-in draft caps or thermostatic control units. Another development in furnace and boiler technology offers efficiency improvements of 15 to 25 per cent over the conventional furnace. This furnace is equipped with electric ignition and a built-in induced draft fan(a device that provides and ensures the escape of combustion by-products) and no draft hood. Elimination of the draft hood dramatically reduces the furnace's overall air requirement while the furnace is operating, and reduces the warm air outflow up the chimney on the off-cycle. 1, record 29, English, - induced%20draft%20furnace
