mountain breeze... As the slopes become colder than the surrounding atmosphere, the lower levels of air cool and drain to the lowest point of the terrain. It may reach several hundred feet in depth, and extreme cases, attain speeds of 50 knots or greater. It blows in the opposite direction of a valley breeze. 2, record 1, English, - mountain%20breeze
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 3 CONT
During the night, the air along the mountain slopes begins to cool quickly because of longwave radiation loss ... As the air cools, it becomes more dense and begins to flow downslope causing a mountain breeze. Convergence of the draining air occurs at the valley floor and forces the air to move vertically upward. The upward movement is usually limited by the presence of a temperature inversion which forces the air to begin moving horizontally. This horizontal movement completes the circulation cell system. In narrowing terrain, mountain winds can accelerate in speed because of the venturi effect. Such winds can attain speeds as high has 150 kilometers per hour. 4, record 1, English, - mountain%20breeze

A chest tube is a tube inserted into the chest cavity for removal of air or fluid, or both; it is needed when the normally airtight pleural space has been penetrated through surgery or trauma, when a defect in the alveoli allows air to enter the intrapleural space, or when there is an accumulation of fluid, as from pleural effusion. Excessive air or fluid in the pleural space can cause collapse of the lung and the danger of mediastinal shift. 4, record 10, English, - chest%20tube

A chest tube or chest drain is a flexible plastic tube that is inserted through the side of the chest into the pleural space. It is used to remove air(pneumothorax) or fluid(pleural effusion, blood, chyle), or pus(empyema) from the intrathoracic space. 5, record 10, English, - chest%20tube

Chest drain is a conduit to remove air or fluid from the pleural cavity. The fluid can be blood, pus or a pleural effusion. Allows re-expansion of the underlying lung. Chest drains incorporate the use of a one-way valve to drain fluid or air from the pleural cavity. The valve prevents back-flow of air and fluid into the pleural cavity. Chest tube insertions are usually performed as an emergency procedure. Chest tubes are used to treat conditions that can cause the lung to collapse, which occurs because blood or air in the pleural space can hamper the ability of a patient to breath. There are four common conditions that can require surgical chest tube insertion, including: pneumothorax (air leak from the lung into the chest); hemothorax (bleeding into the chest); empyema (lung abscess or pus in the chest); pneumothorax or hemothorax after surgery or from trauma to the chest. 5, record 11, English, - chest%20tube%20insertion
Record number: 11, Textual support number: 2 OBS
Chest tube thoracostomy is done to drain fluid, blood, or air from the space around the lungs. Some diseases, such as pneumonia and cancer, can cause an excess amount of fluid or blood to build up in the space around the lungs(called a pleural effusion). Also, some severe injuries of the chest wall can cause bleeding around the lungs. Sometimes, the lung can be accidentally punctured allowing air to gather outside the lung, causing its collapse(called a pneumothorax). Chest tube thoracostomy(commonly referred to as "putting in a chest tube") involves placing a hollow plastic tube between the ribs and into the chest to drain fluid or air from around the lungs. The tube is often hooked up to a suction machine to help with drainage. The tube remains in the chest until all or most of the air or fluid has drained out, usually a few days. Occasionally special medicines are given through a chest tube. [...] 4, record 11, English, - chest%20tube%20insertion

Tube thoracostomy is insertion of a tube into the pleural space. It is used to drain air or fluid from the chest(eg, for large or recurrent effusion refractory to thoracentesis, pneumothorax, complicated parapneumonic effusions, empyema, and hemothorax) and to perform pleurodesis or fibrinolytic adhesiolysis. 6, record 11, English, - chest%20tube%20insertion

Building Related Illness(BRI)... refers to a defined illness with a known causative agent resulting from exposure to the building air. While the causative agent can be chemical(e. g., formaldehyde), it is often biological. Typical sources of biological contaminants are humidification systems, cooling towers, drain pans or filters, other wet surfaces, or water damaged building material. Symptoms may be specific or mimic symptoms commonly associated with the flu, including fever, chills, and cough. Serious lung and respiratory conditions can occur. Legionnaires’ disease, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and humidifier fever are common examples of building related illness. 7, record 13, English, - building%2Drelated%20illness

The purpose of this switch is to avoid overflowing the laundry tub when the automatic washer is discharging its water. The switch is installed on the drain line between the laundry tub and laundry pump. Head pressure from the laundry tub activates the switch. Simultaneously a flow of water forming a loop from the pressure side of the pump through the switch bowl and returning to the pump intake keeps the switch contacts closed.(Pump runs continuously). When the laundry tub is completely empty the pump suction line takes in air. This pocket of air travels through the pump and through the return pressure loop. When the air enters the switch bowl, the pressure gives way to the pump suction side, thus pulling the switch contacts open(pump shuts off). 1, record 29, English, - laundry%20pump%20switch

A windmill is an airscrew which is used to drain energy from the surrounding air and convert it into a useful force. The aerodynamic reaction of the air on the rotating blades gives a drag force tending to check the relative axial motion and a torque which tends to increase the rotation of the windmill. 1, record 37, English, - drag%20force
