This Major Crown Project is a mid-life conversion and systems modernization project for four DDH 280 Tribal Class destroyers. Over the period 1986-96 the project also calls for modernizing and equipping the ships with area air systems capability. Each ship, which will retain its anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, will also be able to embark a Commander of a Canadian task group and will have major systems that have already been purchased.
