A new air-launched missile will be the first weapon ever with a built-in ability to seek out and destroy enemy armor. The missile, called Wasp because it would be launched in swarms of 10 or more, will allow an attacking aircraft to withdraw before exposing itself to heavy enemy air defenses. Initially it will be programmed to fly to a target area. A terminal guidance seeker then will take over, identifying the armor and steering the missile to an individual target.
