A ramrocket engine combines a rocket-cycle with a ramjet cycle. The "heart" of such a rocket-based combined-cycle engine is the ejector where the propulsive streams of both cycles mix. The propulsive efficiency of the ramrocket will greatly depend on the losses incurred in the ejector of the engine. In this project, computational fluid dynamic methods are employed to numerically simulate the turbulent mixing of supersonic/subsonic flows in the presence of finite-rate kerosene/air combustion. The effects of geometry of the ejector and afterburning in the rocket exhaust on flow losses in the ejector and its compression ratio are explored. The ramrocket is a candidate for "next generation" air-breathing reusable space launchers 2, record 1, English, - ejector

3, record 1, French, - %C3%A9jecteur

The high cross range orbiter had a 92, 300 pound empty mass and the same engine configuration as the low cross range orbiter(2 x 188, 000 kgf engines and 4 x 8, 200 kgf turbofan air-breathing engines). But the aerodynamics gave it a 2784 km cross range and a 300 kph landing speed. It also had a titanium structure enclosing aluminium propellant tanks, but the thermal protection system was made of a metallic cobalt super alloy, with columbium leading edge panels. 1, record 2, English, - high%20cross%20range%20orbiter

A jet-propulsion engine containing neither compressor nor turbine which depends for its operation on the air compression accomplished by the forward motion of the engine. 8, record 3, English, - ramjet
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Mechanically, the ramjet engine represents the simplest air-breathing jet engine, since it contains no moving parts.... As with the pulsejet engine, forward velocity is required for ramjet operation to induce air into the combustion chamber, or "ram" the air in, as the name implies. 9, record 3, English, - ramjet
