Engineering Cockpit Simulator consists of a transport aircraft cockpit with all instrumentation and flight dynamics driven by a network of high-end graphics workstations. The software can simulate nearly any commercial transport aircraft, using five networked graphics computer machines, including an out-the-window display. Classified as a flight-training device, the simulator uses high-resolution, computer-generated images, to graphically depict airplane controls and displays that are located on the forward instrument panel. To increase fidelity, some aircraft components are installed, including throttle quadrant, flight mode control panel, flight management systems, control yokes, landing gear handle assembly, and rudder pedals. 3, record 4, English, - engineering%20cockpit%20simulator

3, record 7, French, - indicateur%20de%20virage%20et%20d%27inclinaison%20lat%C3%A9rale

V-bar : Flight Director Indicator... The V-bar command indicator is a pair of yellow, wedge-shaped V-bars that move up or down to command a climb or descent, and roll left or right to command a bank. The flight director system commands the V-bars to capture and track the selected heading or radio signals; or to maintain a desired pitch angle, glidepath, or an optimum speed during SC(speed command) operation. To satisfy the commands, the aircraft is maneuvered so that the airplane symbol is flown into the V-bars until the two are aligned. Input signals to the V-bars depend upon the mode of operation. The V-bars are biased from view by the instrument failure warning system; when loss of signal occurs, or sensing circuits fail that are associated with the selected mode of operation. The attitude indicator (also called the artificial horizon or the gyro horizon) provides the pilot with an artificial horizon as a means of reference when the natural horizon cannot be seen because of cloud, fog, rain or other obstructions to visibility... The natural horizon is represented by a horizon bar on the face of the instrument. 4, record 10, English, - natural%20horizon
Record number: 10, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The attitude indicator relies on the principle of gyroscopic rigidity in space--the rapidly-spinning rotor disk resists any attempt to disturb its orientation. Thus, the gyro provides a stable horizontal reference against which the pitch and roll attitudes of the aircraft can be measured. The "artificial horizon bar" on the face of the attitude indicator is mechanically coupled to the gyro inside, so it remains parallel to the natural horizon. The instrument's little "symbolic airplane" is fixed to the instrument case, however, so it follows the roll and pitch movements of the real airplane. Consequently, the relationship of the horizon bar to the symbolic airplane is the same as the relationship between the natural horizon and the real airplane. 5, record 10, English, - natural%20horizon
