ALTERATION PIPE [5 records]

Record 1 2005-12-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Metals Mining
  • Various Metal Ores
CONT

Zinc-rich skarns have in many cases developed along lithologic contacts and structural pathways in unmetamorphosed rocks distant from the intrusive contact, and in places pass distally into replacement manto and chimney deposits significantly higher in ore tonnage and grade than the skarn.

CONT

Advanced argillic alteration... is one of the more intense forms of alteration, often present as an inner zone adjoining many base metal vein or pipe deposits associated with acid plutonic stocks as at Butte, Montana, and Cerro de Pasco in Peru.

Domaine(s)
  • Mines métalliques
  • Minerais divers (Mines métalliques)
CONT

Molybdène. - [...]

English

Subject field(s)
  • Erosion and Weathering (Geol.)
  • Geochemistry
CONT

Wall rock alteration is usually confined to the footwall rocks. Chloritization and sericitization are the two commonest forms. The alteration zone is pipe-shaped and contains within it and towards the centre the chalcopyrite-bearing stockwork. The diameter of the alteration pipe increases upward until it is often coincident with that of the massive ore.... Of the many massive sulphide ores in sedimentary environments few are underlain by alteration pipes.

CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Various Metal Ores
CONT

The stringer ore is usually within an intensely metasomatically altered "alteration pipe".

French

Domaine(s)
  • Minerais divers (Mines métalliques)
CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Erosion and Weathering (Geol.)

CONT

Advanced argillic alteration. This alteration is characterized by dickite, kaolinite..., pyrophyllite... and quartz.... This is one of the more intense forms of alteration, often present as an inner zone adjoining many base metal vein or pipe deposits... This alteration involves extreme leaching of bases... from all aluminous phases such as feldspars and micas...

CONT

Advanced argillic ... and adularia-type ... epithermal alteration zones with associated precious-metal deposits occur above or near several porphyry copper and copper-molybdenum deposits.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Érosion et corrosion (Géologie)
  • Géochimie
CONT
