[Articulated bellows] are fairly long pieces of pipe provided with flexible corrugations and with flanges at either end. The flanges are interconnected by means of a pair of long hinged rods which permit the assembly to flex sideways while keeping the flanges parallel to one another. Such units, in conjunction with hinged bellows pieces can absorb complicated expansion movements such as occur where a pipeline passes down a steep hillside.

[Les soufflets articulés sont des] éléments de tuyaux assez larges, munis de cannelures, avec des collerettes à chaque extrémité. Celles-ci sont interconnectées au moyen d'une paire de longues tiges articulées qui permettent leur assemblage à des inflexions latérales, tout en maintenant les collerettes parallèles entre elles. De telles unités, conjointement avec des éléments de soufflets à charnière, peuvent absorber des mouvements de dilatation complexes comme ceux qui se produisent là où un tuyau arrive au bas d'une colline escarpée.
