The word "title" has over the years acquired a meaning in general use which is normally thought of as covering all of the interests of an owner in land. We find that the word is used as, "I have surveyed this man's title" and "The title to this man's land is free of encumbrances. "In these two examples, the word "title" has a completely different meaning. In the first instance, "title" is intended to mean extent of title, the boundaries of the land. And in the second instance, "title" is intended to mean the chain of title, the factors which affect the ownership of the land... In legal surveying and land ownership, the word "title" should be qualified or explained by defining it as either "Chain of title"-the province of the lawyer, or "Extent of title"-the province of the surveyor.(Lamont, "Real Estate Conveyancing, "1976, pp. 552-553). 1, record 1, English, - extent%20of%20title

When I meet with law students to tell them about the advantages of a career at the Department of Justice, I mention three things that they will find here... There is a fourth one as well—maybe the most important one of all—the camaraderie in the Department and how people pull together when the chips are down. We see this repeatedly when Justice is asked to help the government on hot files like the commissions of inquiry into the sponsorship matter and Maher Arar matter. 2, record 2, English, - hot%20file

2, record 2, French, - dossier%20d%C3%A9licat

Given a set S, the indicator function J(x) is classically defined as being such that J(x)=1 when x S, and J(x)=0 when X S. When S is a Cantor set, a Sierpinski lattice(gasket or carpet), a fractal net, or any one of several other classes of fractals, J(x) is inconvenient. I often find it more convenient to replace J(x) by a different function C(x), which I introduced and now propose to call coindicator. 1, record 5, English, - coindicator%20function
