On their journey from infant to adult, children pass through four planes of development. Each plane is characterized by a specific developmental goal and corresponding tendencies. The first plane, from 0-6 years old, is known as the plane of the absorbent mind. At this age children experience sensitive periods which assist them in formation of self and orientation with their world. Language acquisition, concern for order, attention to detail, locomotion and use of hands are all sensitive periods of first stage of development. 2, record 3, English, - absorbent%20mind

Assume that A was seized of the fee simple estate in Blackacre, and that A's heir, C, was an infant aged ten years. At common law, upon the death of A, the fee simple estate would pass, by inheritance, to C. As C was an infant, the land would go into wardship and with the land also would go the child. Blackacre would become subject to the onerous feudal incidents of wardship and marriage and, as a result, financial havoc could be wrought upon A's family. To avoid this result, A would make the following disposition of Blackacre by way of a use : A would be the "feoffor to uses", B the "feoffee to uses", and C the "cestui que use". 6, record 22, French, - aiguille%20%C3%A0%20ailettes

Recent media reports have painted a relentlessly gloomy picture of the status of AIDS drug development. Yet much useful information on treatment emerged at the 10th International Conference on AIDS in Yokohama, Japan(August 7-12, 1994). Encouraging treatment developments presented in Yokohama include the following : Recombinant human growth hormone therapy significantly increases weight gain as represented by fat-free lean body mass among people with AIDS-related wasting. AZT treatment dramatically reduces the rate of HIV transmission from mother to infant. Acyclovir co-treatment with anti-HIV therapy significantly increases survival time among people with AIDS. Oral ganciclovir appears to be an effective primary prophylaxis for cytomegalovirus disease. The protease inhibitor drug saquinavir reduces viral load and increases CD4 cell counts significantly more when used in a triple combination with AZT and ddC compared to 2 double combinations(AZT plus ddC or saquinavir plus AZT). Quantitative polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and branched chain DNA(bDNA) testing for measuring HIV load is expected to become a major new tool to help guide individual treatment decisions and to evaluate anti-HIV therapies in clinical studies. 1, record 23, English, - AIDS%20drug

Reproductive effects are problems in the reproductive process which may be caused by a substance. Possible reproductive effects include reduced fertility in the male or female, menstrual changes, miscarriage, embryotoxicity, fetotoxicity, teratogenicity, or harmful effects to the nursing infant from chemicals in breast milk. Most chemicals can cause reproductive effects if there is an extremely high exposure. In these cases, the exposed person would experience other noticeable signs and symptoms caused by the exposure. These signs and symptoms act as a warning of toxicity. Chemicals which cause reproductive effects in the absence of other significant harmful effects are regarded as true reproductive hazards.
