Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
Mechanism found in some recoil operated firearms in which two bars are linked to form a knee-joint, with one end of the joint attached to the bolt and the other to the slide or barrel extension. 2, record 1, English, - toggle%20action
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
On closure, the toggle straightens and locks by allowing the centre joint axis to fall slightly below the two end axes. The centre joint being supported in that slightly negative position, recoil pressure on the breech face tends only to strengthen the lock. Recoil is thus transferred via the linkage to the slide or barrel extension and so permit the bolt and barrel to recoil together locked firmly, until the toggle is unlocked by camming action, e. g. Maxim and Vickers machine-guns, 9 mm Luger pistol. 2, record 1, English, - toggle%20action

Record 1, Textual support, French
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
1, record 1, French, - m%C3%A9canisme%20%C3%A0%20genouill%C3%A8re
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
