A fire-rated wall with a specified degree of fire resistance, built of fire-resistive materials and usually extending from the foundation up to and through the roof of a building, that is designed to limit the spread of a fire within a structure or between adjacent structures.

A fire wall must allow for two independent structures in the event of a structural failure on either side of the fire wall. Use of fire barriers and fire walls, when used appropriately, could eliminate the need for a sprinkler system in a building.

Emotional insulation can ... take pathological forms. In cases of chronic depression the patient may detach himself so completely that he loses the power to react even to fortunate events. In schizophrenia, apathy may become so complete that the patient withdraws into a stuporous state.

"Isolation" is either the action whereby an individual withdraws himself socially from society or the condition of already being in this state(=solitude).
