Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The word radiation is commonly used in several distinct although related senses.-First, it is a term for the process by which energy is transferred and is able to exert an effect at a distance without the need for any physical connection between source and receiver. In this broad sense, radiation includes energy transfer both by electromagnetic waves(as in the case of gamma rays, ultra-violet rays or radio waves) and by energetic particles(such as alpha or beta particles emitted from nuclei in the process of radioactive decay). The more precise terms "electromagnetic radiation" and "particulate radiation" differentiate between these two phenomena. 2, record 3, English, - corpuscular%20radiation

4, record 3, French, - rayonnement%20corpusculaire
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
5, record 3, French, - rayonnement%20corpusculaire
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 OBS
3, record 3, French, - rayonnement%20corpusculaire

The triode detector... incorporates a ring electrode, in addition to the normal anode and cathode electrodes, which separates the background current(positive ions liberated by vapor/metastable argon reactions or collisions) of the primary electron stream from the signal current. Basically, both detectors are similar to the simple device in design : their brass or stainless steel chambers function as cathodes; their anodes of the same material are supported coaxially within the chamber by a polytetrafluoroethylene insulator; both contain ports for introduction and escape of the chromatographic column gas effluent from the detectors; and each have a suitable source of alpha or beta radiation. 1, record 9, English, - triode%20detector

In a series of papers, Gaziev et al. described an argon detector using promethium-147 as a source of beta radiation, and Frank and Yanovskii constructed a microionization detector for open tubular gas-liquid chromatography based on Pm without the use of an additional gas stream. 1, record 10, English, - microionization%20detector

In addition to the simple argon detector with a 3-8ml volume designed for use with packed columns, Lovelock developed a small detector intended for use with open tubular columns, and a new triode detector having a sensitivity 1 000 times greater than his original detector... Basically [the triode detector and the small detector] are similar to the simple device in design : their brass or stainless steel chambers function as cathodes; their anodes of the same material are supported coaxially within the chamber by a polytetrafluoroethylene insulator; both contain ports for introduction and escape of the chromatographic column gas effluent from the detectors; and each have a suitable source of alpha or beta radiation. 1, record 11, English, - small%20detector

There are some questions as to methodology [concerning research in molecular and developmental genetics] Things such as possible difficulties with interpretation of data from using heterologous biochemical assays and correlating in vitro protein phosphorylation sites with in vivo sites of phosphorylation could have been better addressed .... 1, record 12, English, - protein%20phosphorylation

The muscarinic inhibition of cyclic AMP(cAMP) mediated contractile effects may not only be the result of a reduction in cAMP levels, but may also involve cAMP linked protein phosphorylation in the heart...

Activin, a member of the transforming growth factor-beta family of peptides, is implicated in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation in a variety of biological systems. We have sought to identify immediate early genes whose altered expression may provide a common nuclear event involved in activin-regulated phenotypic changes in many cell types. In both human K562 myelogenous leukemia and rat PC12 pheochromocytoma cells, activin treatment caused transient transcription-dependent and protein synthesis-independent increases of junB messenger RNA(mRNA) within 1 hour... Surgical biopsies from 10 head and neck squamous cell carcinomas were labeled in vitro with bromodeoxyuridine.
