CONT

A star-shaped, dark brown pod that contains a pea-sized seed in each of its eight segments. Native to China, star anise comes from a small evergreen tree. Although the flavor of its seeds is derived from anethol(the same oil that gives ANISE seed its pronounced flavor), star anise has a different heritage, the magnolia family. Its flavor is slightly more bitter than that of regular anise seed. In Asian cuisines, star anise is a commonly used spice and tea flavoring. It's also widely used to flavor LIQUEURS and baked goods in Western cultures.

OBS

Used in pharmacy, but mainly in the food industry (condiments, liquors, various beverages).

OBS

It is sometimes confused with "Japanese star anise" (Illicium anisatum L.; I. religiosum Sieb. & Zucc.; I. japonicum Sieb.) which contains a toxic lactone called anisatin.

The normal bailment transaction is a consensual one... Sometimes, however, a person finds himself in possession of the goods of another without having entered into any such contractual arrangement with the owner. Such a situation arises when a finder of lost goods takes them into his possession and, as has been seen, such a finder is a quasi bailee...(Brown, 3rd ed., 1975, p. 319).

To intentionally place an article down and then go away, forgetting it, is not in the eyes of the law a losing of it, nor is the subsequent discoverer of such an article the finder thereof. Such articles constitute "mislaid goods" which are in the custody of the proprietor of the "locus in quo" and not of the one who discovers.(Brown, 2nd ed., p. 38)

In confusion, however, there is simply an intermingling of the goods of different owners. The goods of each retain their original form and characteristics, but because of the circumstance of the intermingling can no longer be identified, separated, and returned to their respective owners.(Brown, 2nd ed., p. 64)

The holding of a chattel under such circumstances that the law imposes upon the person in possession the obligation to deliver the chattel to another. (Ballentine’s, 3rd ed., 1969, p. 255)

CONT

In... situations involving possession by one of another's goods without mutual consent but without initial wrongdoing on the possessor's part, courts have placed great importance on how the relationship is labelled or characterized. Sometimes the term used is "constructive bailment", which usually connotes a recognition that the relationship really is not a bailment together with a determination that the law of bailments shall be applied nonetheless.(Brown, 3rd ed., 1975, p. 320)

When in the case of accession to the goods of another by labor or added materials the owner of the goods seeks to reclaim as his own the improved property, the award of title necessarily has the effect of depriving either the owner of his goods or the accessioner of the results of his labor or of the adjoined accessory...(Brown, 3rd ed., 1975, p. 55).

... because Ancient Madder is always beautiful, and what’s more, it’s being rediscovered. For the benefit of people who are not ancient, Madder is a deep, saturated rusty red dye that’s derived from the Rubia plant. And fashion people apply the same term to other autumn shades - brown, navy, etc. - that are compatible with Madder. ... but G.J.Cahn has an update: he’s bringing back Ancient Madder ... He’s showing lightened-up tints in patterns that bring out Ancient Madder’s modern best for Spring 1998.

DEF

Ancient madder : A term used for goods printed with madder colors in characteristic small, or foulard-type patterns or paisley designs. These may be identified by the standard colors which are used, which comprise only dull red, dull green, chocolate brown, dull medium blue and soft yellow.

OBS

Madder: A red dye, too, was extracted from the root of the madder plant. Madder, also used today as a dyestuff, was known from an antiquity ...

OBS

Printing: ... Mention should be made of the real ancient madder process of hand-block printing, which is perhaps the most beautiful of all (an example will be found in the silk foulard) It is an English process ...

OBS

Madder printing, usually associated with British tie silks of deep, subtle coloring and bloom, is a modern extension of the mordant-printing technique. It is so named because madder was originally used for the dye coloring ...

OBS
