Record 3 2013-12-11

English

Subject field(s)
  • Forage Crops
CONT

Brown mid-rib(BMR) corn has a lower lignin content than other silage corn varieties, and many growers are interested in this type of corn for its higher digestibility and potential to yield more milk than conventional silage corn. With BMR's high fiber digestibility it may help increase dry matter intake of forage and may reduce purchase of concentrates.

OBS

A type of corn especially suited to forage production.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Culture des plantes fourragères
DEF

Maïs caractérisé par une teneur en tissus de soutien (lignine) inférieure à celle des types normaux, à la suite d'une mutation.

CONT

When the thing is incapable of manual delivery, or where the situation of the parties or the circumstances of the case will not admit of it, it may be symbolic or constructive. In spite of the common use of the adjectives symbolic and constructive in the alternative, it should be noticed that there is a significant distinction between them, which the courts will, when the decision of the case requires it, not be loath to make. A delivery is constructive, when in place of actual manual transfer the donor delivers to the donee the means of obtaining possession and control of the subject matter, or in some other manner relinquishes to the donee power and dominion over it.(Brown, 3rd ed., 1975, p. 92).

Subject field(s)
  • Origins and Composition of Coal
CONT

Constituents are the petrographic entities of the attritus that are recognizable in thin sections only by the microscope. The following constituents may be distinguished in coals : translucent humic degradation matter; brown or semitranslucent matter; opaque matter(granular, massive) ;resins and resinous matter; spores and pollen; cuticles and cuticular matter; algae and algae matter.

CONT

According to the practice at the U.S. [United States] Bureau of Mines, translucent humic degradation matter includes all humic matter less than 14 microns in width perpendicular to the bedding. May be fibrous or in fine bands. Color ranges from orange to red to brownish red ...

OBS

CONT

Correctly-stabilized sludge has no smell and is easy to drain. On leaving the stabilization tank, it appears as a brown liquor of even consistency, in which the coarse organic matter from the raw water has been dispersed and considerably reduced in volume. This qualitative definition of stabilized sludge, which is easily understood by anyone who has experience of operating an aerobic digestion unit has been considered insufficient by a number of specialists.

CONT

Separate aerobic digestion facility were shut down in 1971, so that excess sludge is removed directly from the return sludge line and sent either to a thickener or to the reed beds.

CONT
