In his PhD thesis, J. W. G. Gilbey(1968) cited a maximum formational temperature for the gold-lodes of 535°C at a pressure of 2. 4 kbar. These figures were based on the upper stability limit for co-existing pyrite and arsenopyrite(temperature) and a burial depth approaching 10 km(pressure).... More recently, three new temperature estimates for the gold-lodes have been produced, based on fluid inclusions, sulphur isotope exchange and mineral stability data... These data all point to formational temperatures for the lodes of around 300°C, with an estimated pressure of 1. 8 kbar. These figures would seem to be much more reasonable. 3, record 5, English, - formational%20temperature

Limiting depth of probing. The concept of restricting the depth of probing is not new. Lacking sufficient burial statistics, Perla(1967) assumed that avalanche victims were distributed uniformly in the top 3 m of an avalanche deposit, and concluded that limiting probing depth would not increase the probability of finding avalanche victims alive. Eldorado considered two technologies for their central disposal site-engineered burial and mined caverns. The former involves burial of wastes in relatively long, narrow trenches of 10 to 15 m depth in clay or till soil. The trenches would be situated in low permeability soil to which natural clay or synthetic liner could be added to ensure containment. A multi-layer engineered cap would be used to prevent infiltration of water. 1, record 15, English, - clay%20liner
