BURSTING PRESSURE [6 records]

Record 1 2010-10-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics (Physics)
  • Scientific Measurements and Analyses
  • Engineering Tests and Reliability
  • Manufactured Products (Rubber)
CONT

"bursting volume "of a condom means the volume of air contained in the condom at bursting pressure.

CONT

Inflation system for the determination of bursting volume and bursting pressure on condoms. … The system consists of cabinets with sound insulated walls, big enough to allow the condom to be inflated without touching the sides. … Burst pressure and volume in each of the cabinets is measured by a high precision pressure transducer and specially modified diaphragm-type volume meter capable of measuring in 20 milliliter increments respectively.

Domaine(s)
  • Mécanique des fluides et hydraulique (Physique)
  • Mesures et analyse (Sciences)
  • Fiabilité, contrôle et essais (Ingénierie)
  • Produits fabriqués (Caoutchouc)
CONT

Record 2 2010-10-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics (Physics)
  • Scientific Measurements and Analyses
  • Engineering Tests and Reliability
  • Manufactured Products (Rubber)
CONT

A condom comprises natural rubber and polyurethane. Preferably, the condom has a single wall thickness of less than 55 μm. More preferably the condom has a single wall thickness of less than 55 μm and a burst pressure of 1.0 kPa or above.

CONT

The standard stipulates that the bursting pressure of latex condoms(2 of the 37 test models are made of polyurethane, marketed to people allergic to latex) shall be not less than 1. 0 kPa.

  • Mesures et analyse (Sciences)
  • Fiabilité, contrôle et essais (Ingénierie)
  • Produits fabriqués (Caoutchouc)
CONT

Chaque type de condom doit supporter les pressions d’éclatement spécifiées établies par Santé Canada. Les normes ISO exigent présentement qu’un condom puisse maintenir une pression d’au moins 1 kilopascal avant d’éclater.

Sprinkler which opens under the influence of heat by the bursting of the glass bulb through pressure resulting from expansion of the fluid enclosed therein.

OBS

Term and definition standardized by ISO.

Domaine(s)
  • Installations fixes de secours (incendies)
DEF

Sprinkleur qui s'ouvre sous l'influence de la température grâce à l'éclatement de l'ampoule de verre provoqué par la dilatation du fluide qui y est contenu.

Pressure during burst pressure testing up to which no externally visible bursting and no external leakage must occur.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Mécanique des fluides et hydraulique (Physique)

English

Subject field(s)
  • Tools and Equipment (Textile Industries)
  • Engineering Tests and Reliability
OBS

Bursting strength. 1. The ability of material to resist rupture by pressure. 2. The force required to rupture a fabric by distending it with a force... The two basic types of bursting tests are the inflated diaphragm method and the ball-burst method.

Record 6 1990-09-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Strength of Materials
  • Technical Textiles
  • Soil Mechanics (Engineering)
CONT

Bursting may occur when a geotextile bridges gaps on one side and is subjected to soil pressure on the other side. Gaps are cracks in rocks, spaces between boards, plates, slabs, etc. or merely voids between coarse particles such as gravel or stones.... Parameters involved in bursting design are the soil pressure and the shape and size of gaps.

CONT

Burst strength. There are two test methods to load fabrics out of plane, thereby stressing them in tension until failure occurs. The most common is the Mullen burst test ... . In this test, an inflatable rubber membrane is used to distort the fabric into the shape of a hemisphere. Bursting of the fabric occurs when no further deformation is possible.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Résistance des matériaux
  • Textiles techniques
  • Mécanique des sols
CONT
