Optical see-through head-mounted displays (OST-HMD) find myriads of applications from scientific visualization to defense applications, from medical visualization to engineering processes, and from training to entertainment. In mixed or augmented reality systems, OST-HMDs have been one of the basic vehicles for combining computer-generated virtual scene with the views of a real-world scene. Typically through an optical combiner, an OST-HMD maintains a direct view of the physical world and optically superimposes computer-generated images onto the real scene. Compared with a video see-through approach where the real-world views are captured through cameras, it has the advantage of introducing minimal degradation to the real world scene. Therefore an OST-HMD is preferred for applications where a non-blocked real-world view is critical. 1, record 1, English, - optical%20see%2Dthrough%20head%20mounted%20display

An augmented reality system comprises a real reference generator for displaying a real reference on a calibration screen, an optical see-through display having a fixed position with respect to the real reference generator and a virtual reference generator for displaying a virtual reference on the optical see-through display. The augmented reality system further comprises an input device for aligning a view of the virtual reference with a view of the real reference through the optical see-through display, wherein the virtual reference is moved on the optical see-through display, and a processor for determining one or more parameters for rendering a virtual object as part of a real scene seen through the optical see-through display. 4, record 1, English, - optical%20see%2Dthrough%20head%20mounted%20display

Thermocouple Psychrometry. A relatively modern technique for measuring water potential uses the flow of current through a small thin thermocouple(TC) to measure the water content of the vapor phase above a sample. Electrical current flows through a TC as a function of temperature, and temperature changes as water evaporates off the TC. The flux of water off the TC is determined by the amount of water in the vapor phase, which in turn, depends upon the water potential of the sample. Today, we will measure the water potential as well as the osmotic potential of some plant samples using the Decagon thermocouple psychrometer and nanovoltmeter. This device has nine sample chambers. We will fill three of the chambers with standard solutions to provide calibration of the TC, three with leaf samples, and three with crushed leaf samples(crushed to eliminate pressure potential P, leaving only osmotic potential as contributing to water potential). We will then let the samples equilibrate for 2 hours. We will need to calibrate the Decagon instrument to correct for the effect of temperature, pressure, and relative humidity on it's performance. 3, record 7, English, - thermocouple%20psychrometer

A number of laboratory beating devices are in use around the world for routine testing and experimental work.... The two devices most commonly used in North America are the Valley beater and the PFI mill.... The PFI mill... utilizes a grooved roll eccentric to a smooth trough on which the pulp sample at 10% consistency is distributed. The pressure between roll and trough can be varied by means of applied weights. Both the roll and "bedplate" rotate at high speed, but at different peripheral velocities; this action induces friction, rubbing and crushing of the fibers to produce the beating effect. With normal operation, there is no metal-to-metal contact and little wear on the edges. Consequently, the device rarely needs calibration. 1, record 12, English, - PFI%20mill

1, record 12, French, - raffineur%20PFI
