Record 1 2024-07-04

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fungi and Myxomycetes
  • Plant Biology
CONT

Carpogenic germination is considered the dominant mode of infection and involves the sclerotium germinating to form mushroom-like structures called apothecia.

CONT

Carpogenic germination usually requires the sclerotia to be in wet soil for one to two weeks prior to germination...

English

Subject field(s)
  • Plant Diseases
  • Industrial Crops
  • Grain Growing
  • Milling and Cereal Industries
CONT

Research on biocontrol of S. [Sclerotinia] sclerotiorum continues to be focused primarily on control of carpogenic germination or apothecia production, and on hyperparasitism by fungal antagonists to reduce sclerotial load in the soil. However, a reduction in the number of sclerotia in a field does not necessarily eliminate the risk of significant yield losses.
