As coenzymes are vitamin derivatives and their chemical structures are known, immobilization methods for them can be easily selected. However, when a coenzyme is directly bound to a water-insoluble carrier, high-molecular-weight apoenzyme often cannot approach the coenzyme closely due to the steric hindrance of the carrier. To overcome this steric hindrance, appropriate chain structures termed "spacers" or "arms" are interposed between the carrier and coenzyme. 1, record 4, English, - spacer

H-II Transfer Vehicle is one of the orbital transfer vehicles which is designed to transport various cargos to the International Space Station(ISS) with the Japanese H-IIA rocket. The HTV will approach and hover beside the Space Station, then the HTV will be captured by ISS manipulator and will be berthed to the predicted position. To avoid any hazardous situation to the Space Station during free flight, the HTV is designed to meet the needs of high reliability and safety. When an enzyme is immobilized by using a water-insoluble polymer carrier, the enzyme activity toward substrates of high molecular weight is markedly reduced due to steric hindrance which obstructs the approach of the substrate to the enzyme molecule. However, the activity of immobilized enzyme toward substrates of low molecular weight is similar to that of the native enzyme because the substrate can easily approach the enzyme molecule. 2, record 10, English, - steric%20hindrance

2, record 10, French, - encombrement%20st%C3%A9rique
