CARRIER SENSING [4 records]

Record 1 2007-04-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Internet and Telematics
DEF

A network control protocol in which a carrier sensing scheme is used.

OBS

A data station that intends to transmit sends a busy signal. After waiting a sufficient time for all stations to receive the busy signal, the data station transmits a frame. While transmitting, if the data station detects a busy signal from another station, it stops transmitting for a random time and then tries again.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Information Processing (Informatics)
DEF

An ongoing activity of a data station to detect whether another station is transmitting.

OBS

In a local area network.

OBS

The signal is provided by the physical layer to the media access sub-layer to indicate that one or more stations are currently transmitting on the trunk coaxial cable.

OBS

carrier sense; carrier sensing : terms and definition standardized by ISO/IEC.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Traitement de l'information (Informatique)
DEF

OBS

En una red de área local.

Subject field(s)
  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Cryogenics
CONT

However, if a binary mixture emerging from the column(carrier gas plus separated component) passes over the sample sensing element, this element will be heated or cooled to a new temperature with a consequent change in the resistance("out-of-balance" signal) of this arm.

Subject field(s)

  • Aerodynamics and Theory of Gases
  • Measuring Instruments
DEF

a compact dial gauge of limited accuracy for measuring differential pressures. The active element is a twisted bourdon tube with a flat magnetic armature attached which rotates when pressure is applied, thus changing the air gap between it and the sensing circuit, changing the inductance. The resultant signal is used to modulate a carrier voltage.

DEF
