CONT

The first round is positioned in line with the chamber and is held in position by the cartridge stop and cartridge guide pawl. On trigger squeeze, the nose of the sear is depressed thus freeing the piston rod extension. The driving spring rod assembly pushes the working parts forward. The feed horn strikes the base of the round. The bolt strips the round from the belt link.

CONT

A long recoil action uses the force of recoil to achieve the seven steps of operation. It requires the barrel and bolt(locked together) to travel rearward for a distance somewhat greater than the full length of the fired cartridge before coming to a stop, so that the fired shell may be extracted and ejected.

DEF

System of operation common in sub-machine-guns and in which the primer is struck and the cartridge is fired while the bolt is still moving forward. The explosion force has to stop the moving bolt before causing it to recoil, introducing a fractional delay between firing and breech opening, thus permitting the bullet to leave the barrel. This system absorbs some recoil energy and allows the bolt to be lighter.

DEF
