The standard nontreponemal antigen serologic test for syphilis [that consists of] a slide flocculation test using heat-inactivated serum and VDRL antigen, a standardized mixture of cardiolipin, lecithin, and cholesterol. 4, record 1, English, - VDRL%20test

Syphilitic infection leads to the production of nonspecific antibodies that react to cardiolipin. This reaction is the foundation of "non-treponemal" assays such as the VDRL(Venereal Disease Research Laboratory) test[, a] flocculation type [test that uses] an antigen-antibody interaction. The complexes remain suspended and therefore visible due to the lipid based antigens. With the VDRL a microscope is required... The VDRL assay detects an antibody against cardiolipin, a cellular membrane component that is released by cells when they are damaged by T. [Treponema] pallidum or in some other medical conditions. 3, record 1, English, - VDRL%20test

Dynamin is a GTPase responsible for endocytosis in the eukaryotic cell. Dynamins are principally involved in the scission of newly formed vesicles from the membrane of one cellular compartment and their targeting to, and fusion with, another compartment, both at the cell surface(particularly caveolae internalization) as well as at the Golgi apparatus. Dynamin also plays a role in many processes including division of organelles, cytokinesis and microbial pathogen resistance. 2, record 2, English, - dynamin

A secondary novel technology to which the Company has exclusive rights is that of antibody-targeted liposomes. This technology involves the incorporation of an antimyosin antibody into liposome membranes that serves to target the immunoliposome to cytoskeletal protein exposed by cellular membrane lesions. Upon anchoring the liposome to the cell via the antibody the liposome presumably fuses with the cell membrane and repairs the lesion. In vitro and animal model studies have shown that this methodology has been able to preserve cell and tissue viability under anoxic/ischemic conditions. This technology may be able to limit the extent of heart muscle damage during heart attacks and myocarditis. 1, record 15, English, - immunoliposome

1, record 16, French, - mol%C3%A9cule%20signal

Regulation of GPI-anchored cell surface proteins by the GPI-specific phospholipase-D : The glycosylphosphatidylinositol(GPI) anchor is a novel mechanism of membrane attachment of cell surface proteins. GPI-anchored proteins mediate various cellular functions ranging from transmembrane signalling to cell migration. We have described a novel regulatory mechanism of GPI-anchored proteins, namely GPI anchor hydrolysis by a cellular, GPI-specific phospholipase D(GPI-PLD). 2, record 17, English, - GPI%2Danchored%2Dcell%2Dsurface%20proteins
