How do you draw a straight line through the center of each price bar? Technically, you can’t, at least not on any chart where the prices jump around at all. But scientists have a solution to jumpiness : to "fit" a line that minimizes the distance from itself to each price along the line. The best-fit line is named the "linear regression line, ""linear" referring to "line" and "regression" referring to the mathematical calculation. 2, record 4, English, - linear%20regression%20line

Horizontal hydraulic fracturing is accomplished by drilling vertically to the depth of the shale formation, which is generally found between 0. 6 – 1. 5 km below the surface. When the gas-containing shale is intercepted, the drill bit is maneuvered to travel horizontally through the center of the formation for a distance of up to 1. 6km. Water, biocides, surfactants, sands, and other chemicals are forced into the borehole under extremely high pressure to induce fractures in the shale that allow gas to rise to the surface for collection... 1, record 9, English, - horizontal%20hydraulic%20fracturing

2, record 13, French, - %C3%A0%20gradient%20d%27indice

The ocean basins are characterized by a central ridge structure that divides the basin about in half. This midoceanic ridge consists of submarine hills that rise gradually to a rugged central zone. Precisely in the center of the ridge, at its highest point, is the axial rift, which is a narrow, trench-like feature. The location and form of this rift suggest that the crust is being pulled apart along the line of the rift. The midoceanic ridge and its principal branches can be traced through the ocean basins for a total distance of about 60, 000 km(about 37, 000 mi). 9, record 22, English, - mid%2Doceanic%20ridge

The space between these diverging plates is filled with molten rocks (magma) from below. Contact with seawater cools the magma, which quickly solidifies, forming new oceanic lithosphere. The keyless unlocking is brought about by an invisible dialog. As soon as the driver touches a door handle, which doubles as a capacitance sensor, the receiver and transmitter unit integrated in the card is scanned by the "control center" in the vehicle. During this process, the distance between the card and the transmitter located in each door and in the rear bumper must not exceed one meter. The ensuing encrypted data exchange, which is copy-proof, takes place in a matter of milliseconds. The Space Shuttle stops within 50 meters of Mir, which is approximately one-half the length of a football field. From that position the Space Shuttle waits for clearance from Mission Control to continue. When the command is given to continue, the Reaction Control System is activated again and the Space Shuttle closes in on Mir at a speed of about 0. 05 meters per second until it reaches a distance of about 9 meters. There, the Space Shuttle stops again and waits for approximately 5 minutes. The Commander and Pilot make sure they can see the docking target clearly and fine-tune the alignment of the Space Shuttle with the docking target. A large black cross called the Stand-off Cross is mounted 30 centimeters(cm) above the back plate in the center of the target. When the Commander has the Stand-off Cross squarely in line with the docking target, he or she maneuvers the Space Shuttle and makes contact with the docking ring. In parallel, Scandinavian planners had been adopting versions of what in Copenhagen was called the finger plan: they put new settlement like beads on a string along public transport routes, in the case of Copenhagen a light rail system, in Stockholm a new underground railway. The most celebrated case was Stockholm, where the famous 1952 General Plan of Sven Markelius and Göran Sidenbladh developed systematic pyramids of density around the stations, and also provided service and other jobs in district centres around these same stations, with the idea that as many as one third would find jobs in the places where they lived (Hall 1992a; Hall 1997). 2, record 39, English, - finger%20pal

Notice in the drawing routines, especially the arc routines, that familiarity with how the arc routine works is important. In the first arc statement, the command arc is executed and the first point is entered. The center option is chosen before the second point is entered. At this point, you should be able to decipher what is happening in the first nine statements of this function. Next, the arc number value is initialized and set. This value counts how many times you run through this routine. Each time you run through the routine, you create one first arc. The next statement calculates the arc length by calculating the distance between the start and end points of the first arc. Now that you have the arc number and the length of the arcs, you can calculate the overall length of the insulation. Notice the last statement of the routine. That is precisely what happens. In the while loop, the variable total is compared to the wall length. If the total variable is less than the wall length variable, the routine will be run again. Otherwise, the routine is ended. 2, record 42, English, - arc%20routine

Graded-index multimode fiber contains a core in which the refractive index diminishes gradually from the center axis out toward the cladding. The higher refractive index at the center makes the light rays moving down the axis advance more slowly than those near the cladding. Also, rather than zig-zagging off the cladding, light in the core curves helically because of the graded index, reducing its travel distance. The shortened path and the higher speed allow light at the periphery to arrive at a receiver at about the same time as the slow but straight rays in the core axis. The result : a digital pulse suffers less dispersion. These fibers often become the physical medium for local-area networks. 2, record 48, English, - graded%2Dindex%20multimode%20fiber

2, record 48, French, - fibre%20multimode%20%C3%A0%20gradient%20d%27indice

A thin opaque line in the femoral neck that on the anteroposterior view extends laterally from the inferior border of the neck for a variable distance, frequently reaching the superior border. To maintain this converged condition of the beams as they swing away from the center, it is also necessary to vary their relative angles slightly. The "Sagittarius arm" is rearer the center than the sun's distance.(...). Hydrogen emission is very strong from Sagittarius through Scorpius and into Norma. Les étoiles chaudes de l'Orion forment ce qu'on appelle le bras d'Orion, avec à son bord le Soleil.
