Une corde est généralement définie par une ligne droite imaginaire, dans un plan parallèle au profil, allant du bord de fuite au bord d'attaque [...] Le centre de gravité de l'avion est généralement placé à la position la plus en avant du centre de poussée de la corde aérodynamique moyenne, en vue d'obtenir la stabilité recherchée.
