Central areolar choroidal dystrophy(CACD) is a hereditary retinal disorder that primarily affects the macula. In the early stages, there is subtle, mottled depigmentation in the posterior pole. Ultimately, the depigmentation enlarges into in a well-circumscribed round or oval area of atrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium(RPE) and choriocapillaris in the center of the macula. Patients usually become symptomatic in the [third] to [fourth] decade when a fine, hardly detectable, mottling of the RPE leads to the development of absolute central visual scotomas. Later, between the [fourth] and [seventh] decade of life, progressive macular atrophy leads to a dramatic decline in central visual acuity and severe visual disability. CACD may be autosomal dominant or recessive; however, autosomal-recessive cases are rare. Although CACD has a genetic basis, sporadic cases have been reported.

Mothballing is the process of stabilizing a facility so that no damage occurs to the facility should it make sense at a later time to incur the capital expenditures associated with continuing to operate, extending the life, or repowering the facility. Typically, a decision to mothball a facility might be made as a hedge against, or in anticipation of, changes in market conditions; i. e., increases in relative fuel prices, or an increase in the value of installed capacity.... Typical activities involved in mothballing a facility might include the following types of activities intended to preserve existing equipment :-’Racking Out’ or removal and storage of motor control center circuit breakers or 'switchgear’(this would also be done for a facility that has been retired and is scheduled for dismantling)-Placing a heat source or desiccants in the furnace to maintain a temperature above the dew point(at which condensation collects and corrodes the boiler structures.)-The application of grease or other coatings to reduce corrosion of components such as pumps and motors.-The installation of an air desiccant system to blow dry air through the steam turbine, condenser, boiler tubes and pipes.

Efforts were undertaken by NAVAIR to make a new, porous, non-metallic, single-base ingredient bearing retainer material available to the bearing industry. The successful results of this effort... belong to the Naval Weapons Support Center, its contractor Singer-Kearfott, Little Falls, NJ, and their subcontractor, Dixon Corporation, Bristol, RI. The new material is a porous polyimide called Meldin 9000. The material was first developed by Dynatech Corporation in conjunction with a Charles Stark Draper Laboratory gyro improvement program sponsored by the Air Force. Laboratory-produced samples of the new material demonstrated a life of over 3, 000 hours as compared to a life of only 300 hours or less for a traditional material.

[The] EMCS consists of a gas tight incubator containing two centrifuges with space for 4 Experiment Containers on each rotor; also the life support and water supply system, the illumination and the observation system are located on the rotors. ... the Payload Operations Center at NASA's Marshall Center in Huntsville, Ala., successfully began sending files to the primary and secondary payload computers on the International Space Station that will allow science experiments to be controlled on board. These commands are basically the equivalent of what takes place when a home computer is "booted up" when first turned on. This will allow the computers to operate experiments as well as receive, store and transmit science data throughout the life of the Station.

English, French, Spanish, Polish. Human Life International(HLI) was founded in 1981 by Benedictine monk, Fr. Paul Marx. A Catholic priest and Doctor of Sociology. Fr. Marx was a pro-life pioneer in the 1960s and 1970s, teaching scientifically proven natural methods of birth spacing, commonly referred to as Natural Family Planning(NFP). Fr. Marx became alarmed at the increased reliance on abortion, especially among the young, and the proliferation of groups promoting abortion rights. He founded the Human Life Center at Minnesota's St. John's University in 1972. This became Human Life International in 1981. Through HLI Fr. Marx worked to promote NFP and to defend innocent unborn human life. HLI has grown over the years into a worldwide human rights organization, whose global mission is to protect and defend the right to life at all stages of human development and to promote natural methods of birth spacing.
