USA [United States of America] overpowered by England. The USA closed out their World Cup warm-up tour with a 52-14 defeat to England at Sandy Park on Saturday. A superior kicking game and the strength of the Red Roses forwards proved too much in a one-sided first half, but the Eagles restored some confidence with a committed second half showing. 3, record 1, English, - kicking%20game

Placekicking is the phase of the kicking game that you’ll use when your team attempts to score a point after touchdown(PAT) or kicking a field goal; your team will attempt a field goal if the drive has been stopped and the team is close enough to the opponent's goal line.... During this phase of the kicking game, three players use special techniques : the kicker(who makes the kick), the holder(who catches the ball from the center and places it on the tee), and the center,(also known as the short snapper(who centers the ball back to the holder). 4, record 1, English, - kicking%20game

How do you draw a straight line through the center of each price bar? Technically, you can’t, at least not on any chart where the prices jump around at all. But scientists have a solution to jumpiness : to "fit" a line that minimizes the distance from itself to each price along the line. The best-fit line is named the "linear regression line, ""linear" referring to "line" and "regression" referring to the mathematical calculation. 2, record 5, English, - linear%20regression%20line

In route or drag pattern. Often today, an in route is called a drag pattern. This play requires the receiver to run a couple of steps downfield, then turn and run parallel to the line of scrimmage towards the center of the field. The drag pattern is used in the West Coast offense a lot, allowing receivers to catch the ball safely and then run after the catch. Speedy receivers who don’t mind running through linebacker territory also run in-routes. 3, record 6, English, - in%20pattern

In general, any player whose assigned position is the left or right instead of the center. But more specifically, refers to players whose job is to come into the attack by bringing the ball up the side line(i. e., the wings) and to send good crossing passes into the center. 7, record 22, English, - wing%20player

Pure "wingers" aren’t used today as much as they used to be. "Wingers" used to be the wide forwards or midfielders (who were sometimes called "withdrawn wingers"). Wing midfielders are sometimes called "winghalfs" or "wingmids" & wing fullbacks are "wingbacks." Today, it is more common to use wingmids or wingbacks to come up to cross the ball than to have wing forwards. "Wingers" who bring the ball up the side are often very fast and excellent dribblers. 7, record 22, English, - wing%20player

A shot is the combination of a stroke and the situation in which it is used. 3, record 31, English, - shot
Record number: 31, Textual support number: 1 OBS
"Long" is an informal expression used to indicate that a shot went out past the baseline. Important nuance: a "stroke" implies early preparation and a complete follow through. If one were to envision a stroke, one would see a series of sequences, ending with a "shot", i.e. the result of all of the above. Consequently, a "shot" is the result of the "stroke". "Shot" implies a quick, sharp movement because one is focusing on the end result, not the series of sequences leading up to it. A "blow" is rather an imprecise, general term similar in meaning to "shot". Although many would like to maintain these nuances in English, "shot" and "stroke" are often used synonymously. "Blow" is used only rarely. Note, however that although there are two possible equivalents ("coup" and "frappe") in French, neither are semantically identical to the English offerings. The Spanish term "pegada" works well as an equivalent for "shot", although technically the term more specifically refers to the actual hitting action caused by the racket coming in contact with the ball, and not to the end result [cause vs effect]. 2, record 31, English, - shot

The ocean basins are characterized by a central ridge structure that divides the basin about in half. This midoceanic ridge consists of submarine hills that rise gradually to a rugged central zone. Precisely in the center of the ridge, at its highest point, is the axial rift, which is a narrow, trench-like feature. The location and form of this rift suggest that the crust is being pulled apart along the line of the rift. The midoceanic ridge and its principal branches can be traced through the ocean basins for a total distance of about 60, 000 km(about 37, 000 mi). 9, record 37, English, - mid%2Doceanic%20ridge

The space between these diverging plates is filled with molten rocks (magma) from below. Contact with seawater cools the magma, which quickly solidifies, forming new oceanic lithosphere. The disk-type centrifuge consists of a stack of thin disks in the shape of cones. The sedimentation takes place in the radial direction in the space between adjacent cones.... Feed enters at the center line of the rotating bowl and is accelerated by fins or channels at the bottom of the disk stack assembly before it is introduced into the bowl proper.... The heavy liquid separates quickly and settles to the bowl wall. Light liquid with some of the heavy liquid entrained as small drops enters the outside of the disk stack and flows up the sloped surfaces to the central portion of the disks. The entrained drops of heavy liquor are separated in the shallow layers between the disks and settle back to the bowl wall. Any solids contained in the feed are also settled to the bowl wall.... The bowl used with these machines contains a central stack of coned discs which ensure an almost constant length of flowpath, and the deposition of solids at the bowl wall produces only a minor reduction in the flowpath. 2, record 44, English, - disk%20type%20centrifuge

The inclination of a satellite, together with its orbital altitude and the period of its orbit, creates a track defined by an imaginary line connecting the satellite and the Earth's center. The intersection on the line with the Earth's surface is the subsatellite point. As the Earth turns on its axis and the satellite orbits overhead, a line is created by the satellite's apparent path over the ground(the series of subsatellite points connected). A geostationary satellite has an inclination of essentially zero, and, because its orbital period exactly matches the Earth's rotation, its ground track is reduced to an apparent stationary point on the equator. 5, record 55, English, - ground%20track

Templets used in connection with studies for the figure of the earth and isostasy. In obtaining elevation readings from maps in connection with topographic and isostatic reductions, templets of plastic are used. The templets used in connection with deflection of the vertical studies have circles and radial lines drawn upon them, so proportioned with reference to scale of map and azimuth that elevations and ocean depths within each compartment formed by adjacent arcs and radii can be easily averaged and the effect of the mass therein on a plumb line at the station(center of circles), under various hypotheses, can be computed. The templets used in connection with gravity studies are similar to those described above, except that no account is taken of azimuth, all compartments bounded by a given pair of circles being of the same size and shape. A given templet can be used only on maps of the scale and projection for which it is constructed. 1, record 65, English, - Hayford%20deflection%20templet

R bar approach of the space shuttle towards the satellite ... along the radius vector. 3, record 67, English, - R%2Dbar%20approach
Record number: 67, Textual support number: 1 OBS
For visualization purposes, the station's direction of motion is called the velocity vector, or V-bar for short. By convention, points in front of the station are said to be on the positive V-bar while points behind are considered negative. The imaginary line connecting the station with the center of the Earth is called the radius vector, or R-bar. Points directly below the station along this line are considered positive while points above are considered negative. Endeavour, then, will approach the station along the plus R-bar. The station will be oriented with its long axis aligned with the velocity vector, with the Unity module in "front" and Zvezda behind. Unity's nadir and zenith ports will be oriented as their names imply. This orientation, or attitude, is known as "XVV, "i. e., the station's X axis is aligned with the velocity vector. The terminal rendezvous sequence will begin with a rocket firing(TI) as Endeavour trails the station by about eight nautical miles. Once the shuttle reaches the plus R-bar, commander Brent Jett will guide the ship up from directly below. As he nears the station, he will yaw the shuttle 180 degrees so its tail is pointing in the direction of motion and its nose toward the minus V-bar. Assuming a good linkup, the shuttle will begin controlling the station's orientation for the duration of Endeavour's mission, moving the lab back into an "X-POP" attitude with the station's X axis perpendicular to the plane of its orbit. In this orientation, the long axis of the station is broadside to the velocity vector. 4, record 67, English, - R%2Dbar%20approach

A ship that has experienced hogging is said to be hogged. Instead of showing a flat, level hull line, a hogged ship is "curved", with the bow and stern lower than the center of the ship. 3, record 68, English, - hogged%20ship

Hogging occurs because the bow and stern of the ship, while carrying a considerable amount of heavy equipment, possesses relatively little buoyancy. The center of the ship, on the other hand, possesses a great deal of buoyancy and may be quite light-weight if the ship is not loaded with heavy cargo or ballast. This unequal distribution of forces, with great weights but little buoyancy fore and aft, and little weight but great buoyancy amidships, leads to deformation of the hull. 3, record 68, English, - hogged%20ship

A good understanding of the basic axis system used to describe aircraft motion is necessary to fully appreciate flight test data, since all measurements are referenced to this axis system. Aircraft translational motion is described in terms of motion in three different directions, each direction being perpendicular to the other two(orthogonal). Motion in the X direction is forward and aft velocity. The Y direction produces sideways motion to the left and right, and up and down motion is in the Z direction... There are several slightly different versions of the basic axis system just described. They differ primarily in the exact placement of the zero reference lines, but are generally similar in their directions.(For example, the body-axis system uses the fuselage center line as the x axis, while a wind-axis system uses the direction that the aircraft is moving through the air as the x axis.) 4, record 73, English, - body%20axis%20system

The flight plan calls for Wetherbee to approach Mir from directly below, along the imaginary line joining the station and the center of the Earth. This is known as the R-bar, or radius vector, and shuttles approaching from below are said to be carrying out a "plus R-bar rendezvous"(it would be a negative R-bar approach if Atlantis came in from above Mir). By approaching from below, the shuttle can utilize the natural braking provided by Earth's gravity to minimize the use of upward firing thrusters that could damage Mir's fragile solar arrays. 1, record 76, English, - negative%20R%2Dbar%20approach

5, record 77, English, - R%2Dbar

Highspeed, Highpressure Sewer and Pipe Cleaning. The vehicle is positioned at the manhole with hose reel above opening. A special high-pressure hose, fitted with a hardened steel jet nozzle, is introduced into the sewer. Water pressure up to 2000 lbs. psi drives the hose up the sewer against the flow. A center hole in the nozzle breaks up accumulation in front of the hose to allow for easy passage. When the hose is withdrawn, the water jets flush the sewer clean. Light materials are flushed down the line and heavy materials are deposited in the manhole for easy removal with the sanitary Hydro-Vac. A final jetting of the interior of the manhole with the high-pressure gun completes the cleaning operation. 3, record 95, English, - sewer%20cleaning

For projects using brick, make certain you have a brick trowel, brick chisel, mason's hammer, 4 ft. level, tape measure, pointing trowel, jointing tool, mason's line, wood line blocks and spirit level. The height and thickness of your walls are always important... Be sure to leave a space between bricks for your joint. This method is best to determine the spacing of your bricks. Then, drive a stake in the ground at both ends of your wall and stretch mason's line between them. The line will serve as a straight line guide and should mark the outside edge and top of your first course of bricks. Later, as you proceed, the guideline can be moved up to match each successive course of bricks. Line blocks can be used to hold line in place... When laying bricks, always start at the corners and keep the corners higher than the rest of your work. Work from the corners toward the center of your wall. Use the level frequently to check level and plumb. As the wall increases in height, move the line blocks up to the ends of your corner lead. 2, record 99, English, - line%20block
