CENTER SPACING [9 records]

Record 1 2019-10-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fences and Enclosures
DEF

A horizontal support element to which fence boards or pickets are attached.

CONT

Rails are the horizontal part of a fence that hold the pickets or panels in place. Many vinyl fences have two rails, one at the top and one at the bottom. However, it's not uncommon to see... fences with three rails : top, bottom, and center. The distance between the rails is known as the rail spacing.

DEF

[A] resistivity survey in which the electrode spacing is fixed for all readings.

CONT

Like the gravity and magnetic methods, resistivity surveys can also be employed to detect lateral variations in resistivity. Unlike soundings, profiles employ fixed electrode spacings, and the center of the electrode spread is moved for each reading. These experiments thus provide estimates of the spatial variation in resistivity at some fixed electrode spacing. Surveys that are designed to locate lateral variations in resistivity are referred to as resistivity profiles. An example of a problem for which one might employ resistivity profiles is the location of a vertical fault.

DEF

DEF

A way of restricting a loudspeaker’s dispersion and limiting the area into which it radiates sound.

OBS

Speakers using the D'Appolito configuration place a tweeter between two midrange drivers. The size of the drivers and their spacing a critical. When properly executed, a D'Appolito configuration results in comparatively little radiation above and below the center axis of the speaker.

CONT

Our selection of deep well plates will meet the needs of any busy lab. The new 1 and 2 ml half-height plates offer the same center spacing with wider wells. All plates are SBS compliant for easy use with automation and archiving systems.

CONT

The BD BioCoat [trademark] Deep-Well Plate is a novel plate designed for use with 6-well size BD BioCoat or BD Falcon [trademark] Cell Culture Inserts. This plate accommodates the large media volumes needed when culturing cells on microporous membranes. The basolateral compartment of one well of the BD BioCoat Deep-Well Plate can hold up to seven times as much medium as the basolateral compartment of a regular 6-well plate (17 ml versus 2.5 ml). This significantly larger media volume reduces the frequency of cell feeding during extended cell culture periods or when culturing cells at the air-liquid interface. Recommended applications include the culture of Caco-2 cells, airway epithelial cells, or keratinocytes on BD BioCoat and BD Falcon [trademark] Cell Culture Inserts.

  • Masonry Practice
CONT

For projects using brick, make certain you have a brick trowel, brick chisel, mason's hammer, 4 ft. level, tape measure, pointing trowel, jointing tool, mason's line, wood line blocks and spirit level. The height and thickness of your walls are always important... Be sure to leave a space between bricks for your joint. This method is best to determine the spacing of your bricks. Then, drive a stake in the ground at both ends of your wall and stretch mason's line between them. The line will serve as a straight line guide and should mark the outside edge and top of your first course of bricks. Later, as you proceed, the guideline can be moved up to match each successive course of bricks. Line blocks can be used to hold line in place... When laying bricks, always start at the corners and keep the corners higher than the rest of your work. Work from the corners toward the center of your wall. Use the level frequently to check level and plumb. As the wall increases in height, move the line blocks up to the ends of your corner lead.

CONT

Use plastic line blocks to attach line to corners and ends, which are always built up first. Lay bricks flush with line, but do not push it out. Line blocks, unlike pins and nails, leave no holes in mortar to be filled in later.

OBS

English, French, Spanish, Polish. Human Life International(HLI) was founded in 1981 by Benedictine monk, Fr. Paul Marx. A Catholic priest and Doctor of Sociology. Fr. Marx was a pro-life pioneer in the 1960s and 1970s, teaching scientifically proven natural methods of birth spacing, commonly referred to as Natural Family Planning(NFP). Fr. Marx became alarmed at the increased reliance on abortion, especially among the young, and the proliferation of groups promoting abortion rights. He founded the Human Life Center at Minnesota's St. John's University in 1972. This became Human Life International in 1981. Through HLI Fr. Marx worked to promote NFP and to defend innocent unborn human life. HLI has grown over the years into a worldwide human rights organization, whose global mission is to protect and defend the right to life at all stages of human development and to promote natural methods of birth spacing.
