Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a common refractive error that can be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses, or surgery. It is a growing concern, especially as more severe myopia is associated with a type of macular degeneration known as myopic macular degeneration(MMD). This degenerative condition specifically targets the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for central, straight-ahead vision.... Individuals with severe myopia, often referred to as "high myopia"(typically-6 diopters or more), are at a higher risk for developing MMD... MMD is an incurable condition that occurs when the elongation of the eyeball stretches the retina, leading to the eventual death of macular cells and the formation of a blind spot in the center of the visual field. 3, record 1, English, - myopic%20macular%20degeneration

2, record 5, French, - mouche%20principale

STED [stimulated emission depletion] microscopy was the first high-resolution microscopy concept applied more widely for the study of biological questions. As performed in classical confocal laser scanning microscopy, a conventional laser beam is used to stimulate the fluorescent molecules in what is a normal excited spot(of several hundred nanometers in diameter). A second toroidal(doughnut shaped) beam is used to quench the fluorophores by stimulated emission. By overlapping the two beams, fluorescence is allowed only from the center of the spot, which thus generates a much smaller exciting focal spot... Thus, in practical terms, a smaller effective PSF [point spread function] is generated that causes less blurring and, therefore, results in higher resolution. Theoretically, the gain in resolution is not physically limited : it only depends on the power of the quenching laser beam(the higher the power, the smaller the imaging spot becomes). 1, record 6, English, - quenching%20laser%20beam

2, record 6, French, - laser%20de%20d%C3%A9pl%C3%A9tion

Every novice knows the wigwam fire--indeed if a child who has never made a fire were told to build one, he would surely turn up with a wigwam, for it is the natural arrangement. But nevertheless, it is not without importance in the craft, for it is the core of every fire lay no matter how elaborate. Viewed in its own right and aside from its contribution as the starting torch of other lays, it has few qualifications as a cooking fire if one intends to do more than stew a pot of tea, because its heat is all thrown to the center of the pyramid and offers no spread for the utensils, and its coals all drop to one small spot in the center. It is good for light, however, and is prized in the evening. First the coil of birch-bark, or the chip of fat pine, or the handful of tiny twigs broken into a pyramid, or the fuzz-stick; then a few softwood sticks from the size of a pencil up to that of your little finger, stacked around it in wigwam fashion, and lastly the hardwood sticks of finger and thumb size.
