[...] Voici la description du convoyeur haveur Valantin. Il a normalement 20 m (quelquefois 30). Il faut tracer tous les 20 m (ou tous les 30) des galeries à l'avance et exploiter entre elles des taillettes rabattantes de 20m. Le convoyeur est à raclettes, avec une tête de commande pour les chaînes de transport [...] et une autre pour la chaîne de havage et de chargement [...]. Ces deux têtes sont aux deux extrémités du convoyeur. Dans le massif, leur emplacement est fait par deux petites chaînes spéciales ravageuses, fixées contre elles, côté front de taille [...]. Le convoyeur est poussé par trois vérins hydrauliques de ripage qui provoquent son avance par pulsations successives (environ 1 cm toutes les 15 secondes). Les pulsations sont commandées par la tête motrice.
