We present the modification of two ESA [European Space Agency] ground stations carried out in order to support the in-flight RF [Radio Frequency] validation of the Proximity Communication Equipment(PCE), part of the International Space Station(ISS). This subsystem plays a critical role during the docking of the Automated Transfer Vehicle(ATV), and has to be tested prior to each ATV launch, to ensure that the RF performance is as expected. For the check-out, an unmodulated signal is transmitted by the PCE during an ISS pass, and received by the two ground stations. Based on the strength of the received signal, the radiation characteristic of the complete PCE can be assessed, and compared with the nominal performance. The measurement process requires calibrating the receiving subsystem, including antenna, front-end and back-end equipment. The adopted calibration procedure, only relying on radio stars measurement, does not require the use of a calibrated source external to the ground station. 3, record 1, English, - proximity%20communication%20equipment

3, record 1, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20de%20communication%20PCE

Do not confuse with "exposure intensity". The term "intensity" refers to the degree or amount of some quality, condition; it expresses the force, strength, energy, degree of some characteristic quality. The term "level" designates a position on a scale in respect of amount, intensity, extent, or the like; it expresses the relative amount or intensity of any property, attribute, or activity. Since the level studied corresponds most of the time to an observed concentration of a substance, the two expressions "exposure level" and "exposure concentration" can often be used interchangeably even if they are not true synonyms. One must choose according to the context. See also "exposure score. " 7, record 3, English, - exposure%20level

4, record 3, French, - niveau%20d%27exposition

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
5, record 3, French, - niveau%20d%27exposition

Aromatic compounds contain unusually stable ring structures, often made up of six carbon atoms arranged hexagonally. Some of the compounds, however, have rings with more or fewer atoms, not necessarily all carbon. Furan, for example, has a ring with four atoms of carbon and one of oxygen. Also, two or more rings can be fused, as in naphthalene. The characteristic properties of the class, notably the stability of the compounds, derive from the fact that aromatic rings permit the sharing of some electrons by all the atoms of the ring, which increases the strength of the bonds. 3, record 9, English, - aromatic%20compound

Do not confuse with "exposure level"(or "exposure concentration"). The term "intensity" refers to the degree or amount of some quality, condition; it expresses the force, strength, energy, degree of some characteristic quality.

4, record 13, French, - r%C3%A9sistance%20caract%C3%A9ristique
