A form of check not employed in the United States but extensively used in England where it is recognized by law. Crossing is of two kinds, general and special. General crossing consists of drawing two parallel or transverse lines across the face of a check without the addition of any words. ... If the name of the bank or banker is added in a crossing, however, the check ... is known as a special crossing. When a check is crossed, generally the bank on which it is drawn may not pay it to any other party than to a bank, and when it is crossed specially, to no other than the banker specified in the crossing. 2, record 1, English, - crossed%20cheque

When the aircraft gets on the ground an external check has to be made to ensure the plane is sound and capable of flight. A bonding check most definitely will be done to ensure that none of the bonding strips were burnt through. Bonding strips are just strands of braided conductive material that allows the charges that are carried by the aircraft(due mainly to friction with the moving airstream) to equalize throughout the aircraft. In any event what should happen is that the current from the lightening should pass throught the structure, through the bonding strips and be discharged into the atmosphere through the static wicks that are on the trailing edge of the wing tips and rudder. 2, record 8, English, - lightning%20diverter%20strip
